I wish there were more places like this. While interstate driving can be so inhumane, this shell station and store offers a calm simple clean place to stop rest and refuel. There are not many roadside stores that emphasize quality over quantity but this place does, which makes it a real treasure. Yes, there is a cooler with bottles of soda and some snacks in the store, but freshly ground espresso, homemade-looking baked goods, and quality ice cream are the focus here. That’s what makes this place so refreshing, is the simplicity and focus on a few wholesome refreshments done really well, instead of being chock full of mass-produced syrupy stuff. When Dairy Barn is 12 cars deep and you have your dog, but no leash to get out of the car to wait in a line fifteen people deep, and you have a deep hankerin’ for ice cream, do yourself a favor and make the five minute drive to Gabbys. We were feeling skeptical with it being a gas station also, but this place delivered! I was so excited to come across this little family owned business. I was in a hurry, so I grabbed 2 pints based on the names and came home. I was disappointed when I pulled the first one out of the freezer later that night and discovered the ingredients list is longer than my arm.
