Best Mexican food in Athens as far as traditional comfort food goes. If you prefer vegan or foodie type Mexican this is not a good pick. But if you prefer to eat meat in your food you will be very satisfied with the food. Price wise plan on spending about $10 per person plus tax and tip. They also give you a plate of food for the price as well and you will be full. I have been going to this place since they first opened and have never had a bad meal or service and do not think I will ever be unsatisfied with them. There are many different types of Mexican restaurants and I have eaten at fancy high priced Gourmet Mexican restaurants to the typical fast food chain places such as Chipotle or Taco Bell and my Favorite place is the El Camino in Athens. Granted that there are many good Mexican restaurants nationwide and there's some Great places in the southern states and Texas and southern California. I just do not go to California much these days and try to avoid the area these days. El Camino can definitely hold their own with places in Southern California and Texas. I will definitely be returning to this place in the future. If Taco Bell is more your speed theirs one right down the street and within site. That will help keep the wait times down and keeps the...
Read moreBest traditional Mexican food in Athens at great prices. The staff remembers the regulars and keeps your drinks full. They take pride in their work and have great customer service and have a large customer base of regular customers. I have been going to this place since they first opened and I tip them well because they are very attentive to keeping the drinks full and plenty of fresh chips and salsa on the table. The staff also go above and beyond to ensure that they are happy and satisfied with their meal. I have never had a bad meal or service in the years that I have been eating dinner here. I hope that they last as long as some of the other long lasting restraunts such as Lams Garden and Casa. Granted that Casa is definitely not what they once were and are mostly vegan wannabe foodie Mexican like food these days. But Lams is still rocking the Chinese food like they did 40 years ago when they first opened their doors where the Cycle Path is today afew doors up from the Smiling Skull. Keep up the great job and Tasty Food and build up your style of family style traditional...
Read moreWet to Lulus for the first time we were greeted and seated by the most blessed woman whom we believe is the owner. Her smile warmed the snowy day. We started with half and half teas which were tasty. Our chips and salsa were both crisp and.fresh. The salsa was the right amount of spice so there was no overbearing heat like you find in most salsas. I had the chili rellano and chicken chimichanga. This is the first chili rellano I have every had where the chef makes the chili the star not the coating. Flavors are spot on here. Nothing was overpowering. Nothing so spicy you have to stop and take a drink like in other restaurants. Rice and beans tasty as can be. My husband had pollo.. oh my I can't remember the name. But he loved it. To top it off we had the Casa dip. Three words... Heaven on earth. An amazing dip that we wished would not have ended. From the fun exterior , to the kindest staff , the cleanliness to the excellent food. Lulu's is hands down the best authentic Mexican restaurant I have ever experienced. I have enjoyed Mexican food from California to Texas and this is...
