China Panda — Restaurant in Athens

When the wife and I moved to town we asked everyone who had the best Chinese food in-town, half dozen people told us China Panda!

I have reviewed other customer input that rated this place a 1star…. I was in shock by what I read. When it comes to restaurants I hardly give a 5 star. I have eaten Chinese food in 7 other countries and I have eaten Chinese from west coast to east coast in the states. China Panda is one of the best I have ever had.

As for the service yes it can be slow, but you have to take in account that the husband is in the back cooking and the wife is serving the tables, however the service minus that was great.

As for the food, it has been so long since I have had really good sweet and sour chicken, and the wonton soup had amazing broth. My wife was craving there chicken soup today so I drove 30 min each way just for soup 😅.

When it comes to restaurants you get what you pay for and the food here is worth the price they ask for. If you want a even greater bank for your buck, come for there lunch special. Went with my girlfriend to eat a little sub par sushi and was not disappointed. We were greeted by a small child who didn't say a word but grabbed two menus and sat us at a dirty table. The table was then wiped with a very wet towel and we were left with our arms sticking to the table (gross). The service was pretty terrible from the get go. You would think that with being one of the only sushi restaurants in this town, they'd try a little harder.

Now to my favorite part... the entire time we were seated, obnoxious little Asian kids kept running around and acting like little psychopaths. A few times, the lady behind the sushi counter, who wasn't wearing a hair net or some type of head cover and no gloves, yelled what seemed like obscenities at them. While rolling sushi, she was also speaking loudly to someone on her phone.

More than likely, unless someone else is buying, I won't be coming back. Ya'll should either cut your losses and close, or clean the place up with your nasty chunks of dirt hanging from your ceiling vents. Also, find a baby sitter or teach your children to behave themselves properly and not create an uncomfortable dining experience for...

I have been to China Panda many times. Always get good service and food. Today my grandson and I went for lunch. When asked what we wanted to drink, he said Mt.Dew and I said hot tea. A young girl brought 2 glasses of ice water and walked away. We sat there for several minutes. Finally she comes back and asked if we were ready to order. I said we asked for Mt. Dew and hot tea. She grabbed the glasses and said , " well I can change that." A few more minutes go by, she brings the Mt. Dew and hot tea. My grandson orders 2 orders of pork dumplings and some sort of sushi. I ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and fried rice. Several other people come into the restaurant. She waited on them and brought them their orders. My grandson finally gets his dumplings. They are cold. He finishes them. A few more minutes and he is given the sushi. He states it doesn't taste like it usually does. We sat there a total of 1 hour. Finally I ask for the bill, and tell her I'm done with this. I never got my food at all! She calmly brings me the bill. When asked at the register how was my food , I replied " I never did get it!"
