Mac's Sports Bar & Steakhouse — Restaurant in Athens

Mac’s Sports Bar and Steakhouse in Athens might just be my new happy place. Walk in and you’re hit with the smell of sizzling steaks and the sound of people actually enjoying themselves (imagine that!). It’s the kind of spot where you can watch the game, eat like a king, and still feel like you’re hanging out with friends.

The steak? Unreal. I ordered medium rare, and Mac’s delivered it like they had a direct line to my taste buds. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly charred — I half expected Gordon Ramsay to pop out of the kitchen and high-five me. And the sides? Let’s just say the mashed potatoes didn’t make it out alive.

The bar is equally dangerous in the best way. Cold drinks, strong pours, and staff who actually know how to keep your glass full before you even realize it’s empty. The service is so good, I was wondering if my waiter was secretly training for the Olympics in “customer happiness.”

Bottom line: Mac’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an Athens experience. If you leave hungry or grumpy, that’s on you. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a round of applause for the steak that made me question every other steak I’ve...

It was on a Tuesday, when I was bored, about 10:30 am. I live in Athens, and I just got back from a V.A. Appointment. And I was looking for a place to get a Burger and a Beer. But NO Bars are open at 9:00 or even 10:00 am. I looked on Google. It said "Mac's" was open at 10:30 am. So I went there for the first time in 4 years. In 2019 I worked at "Steelcase" factory, here in Athens. A lot of us would go there after work, on Fridays. There were only 3 of us in there, that early, and 2 of them were employees, lol 😆. It's a very nice place. GREAT FOOD. They No longer have a pool table, but, they do have a back patio, with tables, chairs, and "Cornhole" games. Fridays and Saturdays , they have Live Vand Entertainment. With KAREOKE on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. There's a great atmosphere there, very polite workers, bartenders. Prices ate reasonable too. I give this place "4.5 Stars ☆☆☆☆¤" Out of 5. I recommend "Mac's", for a Great Meal, and an Awesome Time !

The food was good but the service was terrible. When I questioned why we had been waiting for an hour for our food, the waitress said they only had one cook and several people called out. Okay... I get it. However, there was one other couple dining when we arrived that already had their food. My family of 4 came in and ordered. Then about 30 minutes after we arrived one more couple came in. So in the time frame we were there, they were only managing 3 tables, which didn’t even all come in at the same time. If they were managing several tables, I might have been more understanding of the excuses. We then waited forever for her to bring the check, and I had to ask her to come back and get it. After she ran our card she threw the card and receipt down on the table without a word and walked away. No apologies, no thank you, nothing. We will never go back. It’s one thing to be under staffed. It’s completely different to leave your customers hanging and then have a bad attitude when they ask...
