Whew! Long history here. The last time I was at Miller's was when I was 15 yrs old. I'm 68. I was born in Athens. Both families are born and most buried there. At age 6. I was moved to.Pa. But spent my summers in Athens, with surrounding family and friends. Roots.
I remembered Miller's had the second best fried chicken I've ever tasted. I've been around the world. That's saying something, when folks ask, "How's that taste"
I went out of my way to cut thru Athens this trip. Put "Miller" on my list. I stopped at their late Breakfast. Lady was really nice to me. I had to wait. I looked at the menu... I ask some specific questions.
She talked me thru. I asked if the "quality" has changed since I was 15? đł
No one can anwser that, but I'm waiting for a honest reply. "I wouldn't eat here." or Yummy... Some folks were coming in and happy.
We placed my Large order. She talked to chef...Said it's going to be awhile. I sat for a while. Then thought to find old relatives homes in the area.
I found my old walking routes, which located all the homes and old business bldg, still there, where I got my first folding knife. I got back to Miller's...
Chicken was ready. Got 40 to go.
They put it "hot" in a Hugh pan, foil covered. When I told them it was going to New York.
Workers kept saying New York?
I pulled out for Marietta. I miss having 50E. Straight line from Athens. Took interstate to Akron turned East into Pa, north to Erie, turned East 86.. Got off close to home. Noticed my neighbor was at their camp. Pulled in. They said they were fixing to eat.
I offered them Millers. It was still little warm. They warmed it up, Took a couple of bites.
Then inhaled as their eyes got real big and stared at me and at each other....their married +40 years, they don't stare at each other! "Wow...That is Great Chicken." They gave me their opinion. How many pieces did you get? They had family and guest coming for the weekend.
We talked Miller's chicken. Told them where they can get more. I took my chicken home.
My opinion, it's now, the Best Fried Chicken I've tasted. I remember at 15 and now at...
Read moreTried to eat here for the first time today and it didn't work out very well. I arrived about 6:20 and there were only 5 people in our group. Someone asked a blonde girl working there what time they closed and she said 7:00. She was then asked if she could take down the chairs in the back from on top of the tables and she rolled her eyes and that's the moment she became rude for the rest of our visit and showed her crappy attitude. We then sat down and she proceeded to tell us 2-3 more times that they close at 7:00 when we already knew. While we were ordering our food she was extremely rude while walking around us and through us. We were all as nice as we could be given the situation. She then brought us our food and practically threw the tray down and didn't say a word. I then said thank you and she said you're welcome in a sarcastic tone. The couple sitting next to us siad she was rude to them as well so she was ultimately confronted about how rude she was and she had the nerve to say "well I have to study when I get home." We went back to eating and sure enough she starts sweeping and we couldnt hear eachother over it. We also had a person in our group with a hearing aide. It was all very pathetic. I've worked at a restaurant, I've went to college and I've had to study too but I was never rude to customers. If she wants to make sure shes off at a specific time, she should get a different job and i really hope she adjusts her attitude before she goes into whatever line of work she's going to school for. The one star rating is for the food and really...
Read moreWe drove over an hour to try this restaurant because we had heard such great things about the food. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we were met with rudeness and eye rolls from the host. Before we even made it fully inside, we were repeatedly told to âshut the doorâ in a very unwelcoming tone. When we asked about ordering food to goâsince we could see the restaurant was busy and did not want to inconvenience themâwe were curtly told there was no room for us, even though we werenât asking to be seated. When we requested to speak with the manager about how we were treated, the host tried to dismiss our concerns as if they were no big deal. Once we had the chance to speak to the manager, it was obvious that this is usual behavior with their staff and clearly, not frowned upon. After driving such a long way and looking forward to trying this place, the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy from the staff completely overshadowed any excitement we had. This restaurant is only receiving one star because zero stars is not an option. Good food can only take a restaurant so farâcustomer service matters just as much. Sadly, based on this experience, we wonât be returning and cannot recommend...
