First, I'll say that the sandwich was one of the best I've had in a long time. DELICIOUS! Worth EVERY penny! And I will order again(To-Go). The restaurant was very nice and had a relaxed yet elevated feel. I opted to dine-in and was excited to enjoy my meal there. I was really taken aback when a server brought my sandwich to my table in his hand wrapped in deli paper. He sat it directly on the table without a tray nor a plate. I was really confused and thought that maybe he thought my meal was ordered to-go however I would've still expected my meal to be in a to-go bag. He could tell that I was confused and shocked by the presentation. After I asked if I may have a plate, he then directed me to where the plates were and told me that it's standard that guests help themselves to a plate. I graciously retrieved my plate and was even more confused noticing that the other guests dining in had their food served on plates. I decided to grab a to-go bag, pack my meal, and I quietly left. Once settled in the car, I called the restaurant to share my experience with the manager. After sharing my experience with Peter, the manager, he disclosed to me that all dishes other than the sandwiches are plated for customers dining in and that the sandwiches are served deli style. I thanked him for the clarity, ended the call, and enjoyed my sandwich(which was delicious by the way), however I felt gaslit and even if I wasn't and it is their business practice to serve sandwiches in this manner...I feel it's in very poor taste to put anyone's food directly on a table without it being in a bag(to-go) nor on a tray(or plate). My final thoughts...one of the best sandwiches in Atlanta, super nice environment...just don't order a sandwich when dining in unless you can overlook being...
Read moreAfter trying several times to eat here (but showing up after all food was sold out) I finally got a roast beef sandwich and a bag of chips. At $23.95 after tax (!!!) my expectations were high. The cashier told me that the roast beef is a “hot” sandwich but it came out at room temp (maybe “tepid” is a good word).
Generous portion of beef, but nothing really special about it (think Boar’s Head deli beef). Other toppings worked well and were very tasty. The cheese was melted but congealed again/not really warm, which is confusing because service was fast and I can’t imagine my sandwich sat for too long after being made. I get the impression the cheese was melted on the sandwich but nothing else was warmed. Cold beef + melted cheese = congealed goo :(
Biggest disappointment was the bread, which had the taste/texture of a giant grocery store hot dog bun. Ended up taking this home and a few minutes in the oven improved the overall quality/taste massively, making the bun crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. It still had that “wonder bread” taste, but was more enjoyable.
I’m happy to pay $20 for a truly special sandwich (and killer vibes, on which BFD delivers handily). But between the bread, temperature, and fact that this is a deli meat sandwich, $23.95 for one person is putting a huge gap between price and quality. The beef was absolutely better, but other than that this was more or less similar to Dave’s Cosmic Subs for me (where a sandwich is $7-10 cheaper…and actually hot).
I’d give it a second chance, but at $25 for a sub sandwich meal…definitely not a third. Really disappointing first experience for me at BFD, as it’s walking distance from my house and I was hoping for a killer spot in the...
Read moreI’m really rooting for your guys, I want this business to succeed. I’m local and I’ve been eagerly waiting for this restaurant to open for a long time. I actually wanted to email you this feedback instead of giving a public rating, but this seems to be the only way to submit feedback. If you guys are going to have a small sandwich menu with fairly steep prices people are going to expect sandwich perfection. The Sammy’s need to be exceptional with fresh, unique ingredients. The ingredients on the menu do read that way. You think you’re going to get this totally unique, crafted sandwich. But the execution isn’t there yet. Please if you take one thing away from this—you need better bread. One person in my group compared the bread to a sandwich chain that I will not mention, and all agreed that the bread needed to change. It didn’t taste homemade, and was not even toasted for the bahn-mi which is essential to that sandwich experience. Like other reviewers have said the ingredients were soggy and the flavor was off (too salty). The bahn-mi ingredients melted together so that they weren’t distinct or complimenting each other the way you expect (you know that amazing contrast of hot/cold, gooey/crunchy, etc.) I might give it another go after a bit. I really hope you guys change your bread recipe. Good luck!! You are in a great location w a great vibe. A few small changes can...
