We had a decent time stopping by yesterday and enjoying the game. However upon getting home and checking our bank statement today we noticed that the amount charged on our first tab was significantly higher than the original amount we had agreed to pay. We were waiting in a long line to get the food from the makeshift kitchen they had set up under some canopies. Someone approached us offering to take our order while we waited to get to the front of the line. He said we had to prepay before getting to the front of the line. We obliged and ordered something in a rush after several minutes of waiting for him to bring over a menu. The "menu" was just a small piece of paper on a small clipboard that everyone had to pass around. We just wanted to eat something before the game started. So we didn't complain or make a fuss and just ordered something and hoped for the best. The "waiter" in question however gave himself an unauthorized $15 tip on a $58 order. We did not approve this tip amount. We had manually set a fixed amount of under $2.00, which we felt was appropriate given that all the "waiter" did was click a few buttons on a mobile device. We were using a card with a preset amount to pay for our order and due to a miscalculation on our part in the order total (by a few cents) the card declined, so to keep things moving we opted to use a different card. While we were looking for the 2nd card in my bag the "waiter" turned the device towards him and made adjustments himself on the device, we didn't think much of it since we figured he would have to reset the payment so we could retry with the different card. Turns out he was adding a 25% tip for himself and charged us a new amount of $78+ vs the original $65 (food, tax, and tip) amount we had agreed to. We didn't notice it in the moment since we had no reason to believe that they would have to steal money through unauthorized tips on a day with an event of over 1500 people. Plus they never provided us with a receipt upon the conclusion of the transaction. If we had gotten a receipt we would have noticed right then and there and brought the issue up. We even had a second tab/transaction with a second "waiter" where we left a tip and did not have issues with the final transaction amount. So this could have been an isolated incident with just that "waiter." We called the restaurant today and they did not provide any help besides preaching about tipping the "industry standard." Which we did on our second tab without being told to. We have no issues with tipping, but what we tip is our decision. Maybe pay your employees a living wage and they won't feel like they have to steal money from patrons. The food was okay, they did have a limited menu due to the ongoing event they were hosting. The experience of watching the game there was okay too, too many people and not enough effort was put into properly organizing it and accommodating for the large crowd (over 1500 people). As in the audio could have been better, some areas had none or had speakers that were muffled/defective. The tvs were all showing a different quality image, some blurry and some washed out colors etc. A lot of tvs were not meant for the setting they had them in, as in improper tvs being used in an outdoor setting (sunlight). Not enough seating and standing room for a crowd that big. Etc. But in the end the team we supported won, so there is that silver lining. Overall an experience tainted by the behavior of both this "waiter" and the "director" we spoke to on the phone. Especially the director who insulted us with profanity over the phone and preached to us about tipping and his ideologies rather than providing actual help with the issue we...
Read moreUPDATE 11-3-22 While I love the Harvest Salad with the Maple Vinaigrette, I never seem to get enough of the vinaigrette that I order and I know that Zifty ALWAYS submits my orders correctly, but this Hudson Grille rarely ever gets my orders right. I also received 5 very small chicken fingers, all overcooked by the way, and the 5 of them together wouldn't amount to the size of 1 of their usual chicken fingers. I found out from speaking to one of their managers, that those are the size they are serving now. Very sad! While I understand that prices have increased on virtually all products everywhere, customers get shafted while still paying the same price. If I had wanted to order french fries as a meal, I would have ordered them. The manager and I agreed that maybe it's time that I started ordering from elsewhere.
UPDATE 10-6-22: I ordered from Hudson Grille again tonight. I ordered through Zifty, with is THE BEST DELIVERY SERVICE of ANY delivery service. I pretty much order the exact same order every time, yet for over a year and a half, Hudson Grille can't seem to take orders properly and/or whomever is packaging my meals, NEVER gets my order right! I typically order the Chicken Tenders, requesting NO BBQ sauce, and 2 large honey mustards. I KNOW that Zifty places my orders correctly, but Hudson Grille messes up my order EVERY SINGLE TIME! Tonight, instead of 2 honey mustard sauces, I received yet again BBQ sauce and 1 honey mustard, not even enough to dip my OVERCOOKED AND CHEWY Chicken Tenders, much less the small fries that I received to dip into the honey mustard. I also received a orange sauce, which I assume is for chicken fingers, which is being thrown out. I also always order the Harvest Salad and love their Maple Vinaigrette. I did order 2 large Maple Vinaigrettes, yet received several more, but some may be dark honey, which I have received before. The ONLY thing that they got correct was my 2 orders of Chocolate Mousse Cake. I called and spoke to a manager, as evidently they don't have a General Manager, which could be the reason why the staff is so under-trained. The manager informed me that she would have a staff meeting, and hopefully afterwards, I MIGHT receive a correct order! I love their food, but if they can't take nor place orders correctly, I may start ordering from elsewhere. I will try again soon and see if they have FINALLY gotten their act together! I am also a disabled senior, with no transportation, except for medical appointments, so EVERYTHING, including groceries, has to be delivered to me.
I ordered 3 meals from Hudson Grille at Little Five Points through UberEats several days ago. I ordered Chicken Tenders, the Harvest Salad and the Mac & Cheese Bowl. The only meal that was correct was the Chicken Tenders with fries, although it was received cold. Instead of the Harvest Salad, I received the Fried Pickles and instead of the Mac & Cheese Bowl, I received a side of Mac & Cheese. I have ordered delivery from Hudson Grille several times recently through Zifty and I always received the correct order, and it was delivered super fast and delivered at exactly the correct food temperature, just as if I was eating at the restaurant! What went wrong with this order??? UberEats refuses to refund me for the 2 meals that I didn't receive! I am furious! I am a disabled senior and must have EVERYTHING delivered. Is Hudson Grille going to refund me or have the meals that I didn't receive delivered to me at no charge??? I highly doubt it! Unsure if I will reorder again, although I really...
Read moreWaiter (Terrell) was horrible! If we saw him three times the entire evening, we were lucky. My friend's salmon was cold/tough and my food was like warm and bland at best (I did return mine). Terrell notified the manager (Don't know his name because he never introduced himself)who arrived at the table on his cell phone and never stated that he was the manager. He just stood there on his phone until we asked if he was the manager. Her food was replaced eventually. However, most of us had already finished our meals by the time her food was brought to her.
We had finished our meals, but of course I had to locate Terrell to inform that we were ready for our bills. We elected separate bills (all under $100.00)and paid with cash and waited for Terrell to return with my change. Time passed and Terrell had not made it back with my change, so I found him at the register and inquired. He acted shocked as if he thought that he earned more than the 20% gratuity that he illegally added.
To add insult to injury, Terrell attempted to keep my .27 (due to their no cash policy). He stated that "I just rounded it up because we don't do cash." I informed him that he doesn't have the right to round my change up and pocket it. Then, he stated that Hudson Grille's policy was posted in the lobby. While it does say that they don't take cash (We didn't see the sign upon entering), he could've stated that to us when we paid with cash. I could've used a card if given an opportunity. He abruptly and hastily remitted a $1.00 to me (as he should have).
Additionally, Terrell added 20% gratuity to each individual check, although everyone's meal was under $100.00. The sign in the lobby clearly states 20% gratuity added to bills over $100.00. Sign doesn't specify collective or table number total.
Needless to say, our experience at this particular Hudson Grille was not good by any stretch of the imagination. Every staff member (excluding bartender) could use grooming standards/tips as well as customer service training. Unkempt and disheveled is not a good look at all. None of these employees are an asset to the Hudson Grille brand at...
