Picture smelling what you're about to consume from two blocks away and just knowing that you're going to have an amazing meal. Stepping into Fox Bros BBQ in Atlanta, GA, is like entering a haven for barbecue enthusiasts, and my recent dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, the friendly and welcoming service set the tone for a delightful meal. The staff at Fox Bros BBQ exuded Southern hospitality, making sure that I felt welcomed right out of the gate. They also accommodated my desire to sit outdoors for this meal even though the other 100% of the diners at the time were all seated at the indoor dining room.
First important detail to note is that if I'm going to allow myself to indulge in a beer during a BBQ meal, it has to be the proper beer. The fact that they carry Shiner Bock, a Texas classic, added an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience. Sipping that cold Shiner while enjoying this meal created a perfect harmony of tastes that complemented each other exceptionally well. I'd have had another or two if I wasn't driving straight to Virginia after this lunch.
Moving on to the main attractions, the Fox Bros "Burger" is listed as the best burger in the Country on Yelp so I had to come find out why. Imagine my surprise when I realize that this isn't even actually a burger at all. Will you hear me complaining? Absolutely not. This is potentially the best brisket I've ever eaten, and it's definitely at least top 3. Added to the brisket was perfectly seasoned and properly cooked bacon, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and jalapeno mayo on a brioche roll. I could eat one of these weekly for the rest of my life and never get sick of it.
For my side upgraded from the chips and got the Fox-A-Roni. This was their Mac and Cheese mixed with their Brunswick Stew which further demonstrated the creativity and bold flavors that define this barbecue joint. The portion size was absolutely perfect and the creaminess of the mac and cheese blended incredibly well with the robust flavors of the Brunswick Stew. I would love to try their other side dishes but I fear if I go alone that I will be forced by my desires to order this one again.
Fox Bros BBQ is quite simply stated a fantastic BBQ spot in Atlanta. If you consider yourself a BBQ aficionado or you're just someone who is getting started into the world of BBQ, make this one of your stops. I am guessing that the dedication to quality and a welcoming atmosphere will ensure that every visit to Fox Bros BBQ is a memorable and delicious adventure. Fox Bros BBQ in Atlanta, GA -...
Read moreParking can be a little tricky, especially during busy times, but I'm pretty sure they're busy from open to close every day of the week! We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2. The atmosphere is very nice, and the time will fly by while you wait for your table, so having to wait shouldn't be a deterrent! Especially if you take into account that your food will be to you within 10 minutes of ordering!
We started with the jalapeño cornbread, I thought it was pretty good. My girlfriend didn't care for it because she preferred a sweeter cornbread. We both ordered 4 meat with 2 sides. The one thing that we agreed on was that the ribs were hands down the best thing we had, they were cooked perfectly with just the right bite! There were fall off the bone, without falling off the bone with one bite. The chicken wings were the next best thing. It's extremely hard to smoke a wing and have crispy skin while keeping a moist wing. Yet that is exactly what they are serving. The Brisket would have been next in line, The bark was really good and had a pretty good smoke ring, the moisture was also pretty spot on. It was just slightly tough, not quite fork tender, but your knife will slide through like hot butter! The final things we disagreed on, she preferred the pulled pork, while I preferred the jalapeño smoked sausage. The pork just didn't carry any smoke flavor, but the bark, smoke ring, and moisture were definitely on point. The sausage had a fantastic snap and had good heat, but it was not overpowering. When you choose your sides, please don't get fries or tots, try something new. The slaw was moist and chunky, and the celery salt flavor was prevalent but not overwhelming. The baked beans were definitely sweet and very well cooked. The potatoe salad was also very good and should be towards the top of your list! The one side that we both agree that will not be trying again is the mac and cheese. It was ok at best, and most people will probably produce better out of their home kitchen. I did try their bbq sauces, but I wasn't really a fan, I don't care for vinegar based sauces, and I also understand that those type things are more about personal preferences than anything else. The one thing we should all agree on is that good bbq doesn't need a sauce, and this definitely did not need it!!
Highly Recommend this great...
Read moreThis was my first time coming to Fox Bros. BBQ and the food was satisfactory. It is a very popular and busy restaurant.
We both ordered the Classic Combo which comes with 2 meats and 2 sides.
First order: Chopped Brisket and Chicken Salad with Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. The chopped brisket was not at all good bcuz it was mostly fat...I've never ever had chopped brisket like that before. Our waitress was nice enough to bring me out sliced brisket instead which was much better. The chicken salad the best....it was delicious! Smoked and seasoned just right. Even the Greens and Mac were very tasty....I could've had a repeat of just those 3 items.
Second order: Spare Ribs and 4 Wings with Collard Greens and Potato salad. As most places now there is no such thing as whole chicken wings anymore so they are 4 wing ding pieces. They were fried just right and tasted good along with the side of ranch dressing. The ribs are smoked nicely and a good portion. You have the option of dry rub or spicy sauce which we used the original sauce that's at the table instead. The Greens of course were still on point, but the potato salad was not good....potatoes were really hard so it was not enjoyable.
For Dessert we had what was on their menu as Banana Pudding and Fried Peach Pie 😑 I don't know how the other desserts taste but these could've been left off the menu all together. The banana pudding was $5 and had the classic vanilla wafers and crumbles of it on top, but it was just from the box, so nothing special. The fried peach pie was $8 and is nothing but a fruit turnover. We did not expect to receive that based off the description! The size and taste was not worth it at all.
Pay attention to your check! There is a non-cash service fee added and we wanted to know what it was for. Was told that fee is for the use of credit cards 🤔 ummm, but we paid in cash! She said oh if you're paying in cash then the fee will be removed. Why was that fee added before even knowing how we were paying?? 🥴 I would rather it had said gratuity bcuz that seems more legit, but this way just seems like y'all trying to get one over on people.
However we did enjoy ourselves for the most part and if we ever come back it will be for the chicken salad,...
