I had not been to this original Flying Biscuit since well before the pandemic, although for a while before that I had been a regular customer The "creamy dreamy" grits were faithfully as advertised. The biscuit was soft and crumbly but seemed very very different from what we have come to know as representing this establishment. They had no decaf coffee, so I was obliged to have a decaf Americano espresso instead. A generous cup that tasted good, but there was never an offer to refill. The two eggs over medium were ordinary, nothing to write home or get excited about. Their famous cinnamon apple butter was pretty much as expected. Wait staff was competent. In general this place seems to have changed quite a bit. It even seemed that way the last time I was there before the pandemic. It's just not the same. I noticed the time before that someone had repainted over all of the original artwork on the long wall that had been there for years and years and years, and which was quite frankly better and more interesting than what is there now. And the picture of Pee-wee Herman is gone from a narrow wall next to the passage between the two dining areas. The place just doesn't feel the same, and the food is just not quite as good as it used to be, though it is still okay. Things do change over time. Legacies come and go. But don't think that customers don't notice these things, especially...

I have always wanted to come to this restaurant from the time I moved to Atlanta. My brother had flown in for business and wanted to go there as well, so we decided to have brunch on a cold, rainy Saturday at the Midtown location. We were lucky to get a parking spot almost in front of the door; parking is a bit limited in that area.

It was busy, but we were able to get seated immediately. I asked our server to move to the back because we were near the door; the coldness from outside kept hitting our backs, and I would not feel comfortable eating in a restaurant while wearing my coat and scarf.

My daughter had the Shrimp and Grits; she said that the shrimp was too salty, and the grits were too thick for her, so she did not complete her meal. I tasted the shrimp, and she was right. I would've had to flush with a lot of water because that might have sent my blood pressure through the roof (cliché). My brother had the Smoked Salmon Scramble with a side of chicken sausage and biscuit. He enjoyed the food even though our server forgot his side of sausage. I ordered the The Famous Flying Biscuit Breakfast; the grits were quite thick but creamy and tasty. The chicken sausage was also good; the biscuit was a bit dry.

Our server was pleasant and made sure to check us without being annoying about it. We would definitely come back and try it another time and hope that we can have a...

Two of us went to flying Biscuit around 3pm on a Tuesday. As I love breakfast anytime of the day, we opted to have it.

I ordered the egg-stravaganza and my nephew got the Hot Dirty Bird

Well…..

Coffee was cold. I got up and asked for hot coffee Everything in my plate was cold (the plate was hot but not the food). Grits were not good. Took a while for my butter to melt in it. The one sausage was so dry it was hard to eat. Bacon was cold and dry. The biscuit was not only cold (couldn’t even add butter to it) but it seems to have been old so didn’t even bother to eat it. The French toast that came w the food was good though. Hot plate and hot French toast but just basic French toast. Nothing to write home about (I ate most of my food as that was going to be my only meal of the day, but took no pleasure in it)

Hot dirty bird’s potatoes were just unedible. As if it was made in the morning and had just sat there waiting. The gravy was yummy but either the chicken or the gravy had made the waffle very soggy and again, everything was COLD.

So, yeh, not going there ever again. Not worth the time and the money. Maybe this place was good at one time, but for us, it was not.

P. S. Service was not really there. Everyone was too busy cleaning up than caring about us. The place had some cute decorations so 3 stars for...

During a recent visit to The Flying Biscuit, a vibrant café nestled on a bustling street, my wife and I had a fairly mixed experience. The exterior's colorful ambiance seamlessly extends to the interior, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The service was commendable; our waitress displayed remarkable friendliness, and we were seated without much delay. Our order consisted of coffee and hot tea, which were served promptly, a positive start to our meal. For breakfast, I chose the Egg-stravaganza while my wife opted for Steak and Eggs. The café's vibe was exceptional, greatly enhanced by an excellent selection of music. However, my enthusiasm waned when it came to the food. While the grits were creamy, they were regrettably oversalted. Both the sausage and bacon suffered from overcooking, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. The highlight, not surprisingly, was the biscuit paired with toast, elegantly topped with crème anglaise and raspberry drizzle - a delightful combination of flavors. Despite the shortcomings in our main dishes, the positive aspects of The Flying Biscuit, like the atmosphere and service, make us open to giving it another try. Hopefully, on our next visit, the breakfast offerings will better match the high standards set by the other elements of this eclectic café.
