We love supporting local, and Marrakesh Express in Smyrna is an absolute gem that more people need to know about! Located just two minutes from the Smyrna Public Library and downtown Smyrna, this spot offers amazing Moroccan food in a clean, welcoming space with a great atmosphere. The owner is incredibly kind, and you can tell they truly care about the food and the experience. It’s a small operation, just two people working, I’ll but they’re doing it all with love and heart. The cook even brought our food to the table and couldn’t have been nicer. We ordered the Chicken Tanji, Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, Baba Ghanoush, and Zaalouk, everything was delicious and full of flavor. The Moroccan hot sauce is a must-try, bold, spicy, and addictive! We also tried their traditional mint iced tea, which was refreshing and paired perfectly with the food. (We do wish there was a hot tea option, or the ability to sweeten the iced tea ourselves, but it was still really good!). I wish they have couscous & Pastilla on the menu. The salad that came with the Chicken Tanjiya was fresh and flavorful, I’d love to know what was in that dressing! We ended our meal with their baklava, which was just the right amount of sweet and flaky. It’s working, they’ve got something special here. We just wish they were busier. If you’re in Smyrna, Vinings, Marietta, or near Windy Hill, definitely stop by and show them some love. Local spots like this deserve all the support! We can’t wait to go back!

When we drive through the area we like to try new places. This may sound like hyperbole, but this was the best shawarma I've ever had. It makes me feel bad about most of the other five star reviews I have given. 🙃 In fact, I have never cared for shawarma at all, but THIS. The chicken straight fell apart and was so flavorful, and layered with the rice and yogurt sauce - it was plentiful in both portion and joy of flavor. My husband got the tanjiya platter and thought the same of his. We also tried a side of very delicious seasoned green beans. I can NOT get over the hummus, either. Truly the smoothest, tastiest hummus I've ever had. We were too full to immediately eat our baklava dessert, but I did have to taste it. What was uniquely good about it to me was that the layers were so light and crispy - sometimes baklava gets a chewy soggy bite to it. We also really enjoyed the mint tea. I like drinks that are not too sweet. This was very pleasant. Everything was crafted with care and quality. Chef Amal is truly using her gifts. May she and her family be blessed.

Marrakech Express, located in the We Suki Suki Collective in EAV, has amazing authentic Morrocan food. The chicken and basmati rice is delicious. I have also become a little obsessed with Morrocan mint iced tea since the first time I had it there. Since my original review, I would like to add that the chef has expanded her menu. She now has bowls, stew, side dishes, and plates. She also has vegetarian options, and uses as many authentic and natural ingredients as possible. Sometimes she has a bit of a wait, as she works solo, but it's worth the wait! By far my favorite of the local spots in the global collective at We Suki Suki.

A Hidden Gem in Smyrna: Marrakesh Express is a Must-Try!

If you haven’t visited Marrakesh Express in Smyrna yet, you’re seriously missing out! Under new management, this restaurant has truly elevated its game, and our recent visit was nothing short of spectacular.

We tried the chicken shawarma, and it was perfection—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. But the star of the show was the chicken tanjiya—a Moroccan-inspired dish that was rich, tender, and bursting with spices that transport your taste buds straight to Marrakesh. The accompanying rice was fluffy and aromatic, pairing beautifully with the yogurt sauce, which was creamy, tangy, and absolutely addictive.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was attentive, making it an all-around great experience.

If you’re looking for authentic flavors and a dining experience that stands out, Marrakesh Express is the place to be. Let’s show this local gem some love—trust me, one visit will have you coming...
