I saw this place pop up a few months back and had meant to give it a go. Today was that day. I rode my bike from Sylvan Hills up to the north corner of Adair Park neighborhood and there it sits. A clean, modern, open space. I was sure that with the city location and proximity to Marta, there would be a bike rack situation. I rode around the building twice to check. Nope. No bike parking. I ended up securing up to some utilities piping around the backside of the building, unfortunately I couldn't keep my eyes on it while inside. Once I locked up and walked in, I was greeted immediately by a nice staff member with a smile. I walked up and expressed excitement to try it, told em it was my first time in. They gave me a rundown of the menu and highlighted the local ingredients whenever possible. I went with the Sameer, and an iced coffee. It is counter service & they deliver the food and bus for you once you're done. It was delicious food and drink. Fair pricing for the quality level. I asked about their intention to install a bike rack and they pointed the finger to the developer. Said the same thing about wanting more shade cover options outside. I'm sure if the leadership at Sammy's wanted to have a safe place for customers to lock up their bike, or a table in the shade, they could make it happen with collaboration from the property owner/s. The rest of the space is so intentional, I hope they address the bike rack thing. That's why 4 stars. Here's a photo of where I ended up locking up. Room for one lol. And my...
Read moreI absolutely loved every bit of my experience at Sammy’s! The chic and modern decor plus the abundance of natural light pouring into the huge windows make for an enjoyable experience inside. And the customer service provided by Jason and his team was A+! I felt very welcome and left with a smile on my face. The highlight of my visit was the delicious food. I ordered The Green Eggs and Ham breakfast sandwich; I got mine with bacon. The brioche bun was buttered to perfection and it was a perfect handheld to eat while driving. The eggs aren’t actually green, but fresh basil is folded into the eggs, cooked to your preference. The yogurt parfait with seasonally fresh fruit and granola was delicious too. I’m not a coffee drinker but I hear the coffee is great. If coffee isn’t your thing, try the limeade with one of their house-made syrups. If you’re in the area (it’s on the corner of Wells and where Metropolitan Pkwy and Northside Drive meet) come in and give it a try, they’re open for breakfast and lunch. If you’re not in the area, do yourself a favor and make the trip. You won’t be disappointed! Next time I’m in town I’m going to try the Uncle Sam made with smoked pork butt that Chef Sam smokes on the wood burning grill...
Read moreWhat a breath of fresh air and a great first experience! Good, helpful, welcoming service from the moment we walked into the door set the tone for a chill late lunch. The space is clean, modern, and inviting with a good soundtrack of relaxed indie pop (I’m a DJ. These things matter). My husband and I shared a Mexican turkey sandwich which was very tasty and fresh. Good texture and flavor on something (turkey) that can definitely be bland in many contexts. The little hits of ancho chili rub and crunchy briny pickled jalapeños (not spicy but added nice texture and brightness), were a nice contrast to the cool, creamy avocado mash. Not over complicated—just nice! Then our new friend at the counter gifted us the yummiest sea salt chocolate chip cookies that were very clearly fresh-baked from the perfectly crunchy exterior and chewy interior. He then invited us back for one of their Friday happy hours that start at 4pm. Apparently they serve affordable smash burgers, wings, and cocktails/beer. We’ll definitely be back. It was a pleasure and I can see myself popping in for a...
