We are regulars at Payathai and we get the same thing everytime: panang curry and mekrob. Unfortunately after our experience tonight we will never be returning. We picked up our food as we normally do and ate it at home. When we got home we realized that the salad that came with the meal did not come with the ginger dressing but a heavy and sweet peanut sauce; the mekrob was drowning in its sauce and not even crunchy; one panang was supposed to be a 3 or medium spicy and instead it was inedible as it was as spicy as it could possibly be; the other panang was supposed to be a 1 or mild spicy and was more of a medium spicy that my girlfriend was not able to handle which is why she normally orders mild spicy; and the flavor of both of our dishes was watered down and not even worth trying to eat.
To reiterate, we get the same thing from this place every time and we know what its supposed to taste like. We were extremely dissapointed. My girlfriend called the restaurant. When they answered, they told us the driver was running late. My girlfriend had to explain to them that she was calling about food we already picked up. She asked to speak to the manager and the woman on the line said she was. My girlfriend explained the issues and the woman told us to bring the food back. My girlfriend explained that we were not going to drive back to return bad food. The woman on the line told her that she needed to speak to a manager.
My girlfriend then spoke to another woman who claimed to be the manager as well. The woman told us we needed to bring the food back. My girlfriend explained again that we were not going to drive all the way back to return bad food, and we wanted our money back. The woman put her on hold and when she came back, she offered us a partial refund on our $40 bill. My girlfriend said that was unacceptable and wanted to speak to the owner. The woman refused to give my girlfriend the name, phone number, or time the owner would be at the restaurant. The woman then hung up on my girlfriend.
We are saddened by this experience with our favorite Thai restaurant. We can only hope the owner would be appalled if s/he knew... If we could ever get a...
Read moreWe had been loyal customers of this place until this week. Payathai was our go-to local Thai place for YEARS! Great food and we never had any problems. We have been there several times but mostly ordered take-out/delivery. This week we placed a pretty regular delivery order but because it was Valentine's day they wouldn't customize anything. Understanding that it is a busy holiday for dinner orders, we said no problem and were told our food would arrive within the hour. Unfortunately, over an hour and a half later, our food was ice cold and missing the rice that comes with the meal. For a $45 dinner, we called just to (politely) let them know. We didn't want money back, we simply wanted to let them know, expecting that they would make a note or some attempt to make it right. The person on the phone (Matt, very polite) relayed that the manager said she packed it herself and didn't make any mistakes and that everything was in the bag (while my husband was in the kitchen cooking his own rice!) He went back and forth relaying messages between us and the manager, and we were appalled by how rude she was. She wouldn't speak to me directly because they were so busy and I left the option for her to call me the following day. She didn't. Mistakes are understandable but refusing to acknowledge it and blaming the customer have lost them years of loyalty. We will never go back.

Read moreI’ve been here several times and have also ordered take-out/delivery, and they never disappoint! The first time I tried their Pad Thai here, I ordered 4 star, and it was a tiny bit spicier than I prefer. The second time, I ordered it 3 star, and it just wasn’t spicy enough… this evening I placed an order for delivery through UberEats, ordered it 3 stars, but I took a risk and put in the notes that I would prefer it on the “spicier side of 3 stars” (with ordering through a 3rd party, I know sometimes these notes get unnoticed, so I didn’t expect anything). To my surprise, I received my Pad Thai, noted on the top of the container that it was “3 1/2 stars” and I let out an audible laugh. I loved their attention to detail and how they noted they saw my preference. I went out of the way to call and compliment them, because not only did they pay attention to the little things, but it was absolutely perfect! Payathai will forever be my go-to when I’m...
