Visited this place this afternoon and had one of the worst service experiences I've ever had anywhere. Been here a few times before and never had issues like this. The food was decent - as always - but not amazing. But the service was abysmal. The dining room was mostly empty. There were only 3 servers that I saw and each one only had 3 or 4 tables at this off-peak time. It should not have been overwhelming at all. We had to wait somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks and we were never even given glasses of water. Those drinks were all empty by the time our appetizer arrived - which also took around 25 minutes after we ordered. I saw almost no plates coming out of the kitchen because the dining room was almost empty. Nothing should have taken so long. Even worse, our server didn't ring in one of the appetizers we ordered even after acknowledging the order. She seemed more concerned with bussing and cleaning her tables (even though nobody was waiting in the lobby), than for actually sending our drink and app orders through. And the manager on duty was nowhere to be found to help out until realizing that we had no food or drinks in front of us nearly a half hour after we were seated. The most basic tenet of serving customers in a restaurant is to make sure they have SOMETHING in front of them. When the entrees arrived, my wife and daughter had ordered a large Detroit style pizza to split, but were presented with a small. Our server blamed that one on the kitchen, but lord only knows if the kitchen was actually to blame. Really poor performance from the front of house, back of house and the manager on duty. Read moreI went today to enjoy some food late night. First things first, the first drink I ordered was a complete bust and super gross. Nonetheless my waitress assisted me and got me a new drink. In the midst of me eating my first part of the meal (a Cesar salad, which later on in the evening I’d find out to be the best part of the meal) I was met by the bartender who made my drink and he wanted to know what I thought, no problem except I was eating my salad and he stood there to wait for me to sip it. As I sipped the drink I told him it was great but before I could finish my sentence he walked away. Then continuing on the evening I got my main course. The food was absolutely disgusting, I had ordered buffalo Mac and cheese, and it was completed over powered with sauce I did not enjoy it and boxed it up and took it to go. Then, my friend who accompanied me had stepped off to the bathroom and I had asked my waitress about birthdays and what they do, to which I was met with “well if you buy dessert we’ll see” not that I needed anything free but to be told that we’d have to purchase for us to get a happy birthday is also very disappointing. But to their surprise my friend ended up ordering dessert, which my friend said tasted watered down and even their meal from prior in the evening tasted flavorless and watered down. Read moreWent in with a very large party with semi rambunctious children (who had just finished a 24 hour drive) on an incredibly busy 4th of July holiday where staff was clearly short and they were busier than any restaurant in the area would expect for this holiday.
Things were slow, OF COURSE, because they were taking care of so many of us who didn't have to work on the holiday. But every level of the staff was clearly hyperfocused on the experiences of the guests, to the degree that they probably should have actually slowed down to breathe a bit more. They were efficient not frantic, and they were kind and attentive even though I'm sure there were 100 other things on their list in their head at every moment.
Our server, Lauren H. was incredible at keeping clear expectations and communication, I'd have hired her into any of a number of fine dining or high stress restaurants I've worked at. And the way that the manager Allison had her staff's back was refreshing to see in this industry.
Thank you all so much for your hard work- I'd love to see most people step into a job with such unforgiving contexts for such continued stretches of time. I hope the company understands the assets it has in a staff who are clearly dedicated to guest experience...
