Tavern in the Square is a solid local restaurant. They have fresh tasting and modern-unique food options, a big beer/wine/cocktail selection, and good service.
For food, we split an appetizer of the broccoli tempura and it was great. My wife got the chicken pot pie and I got the tortellini bake - both very good. The chicken pot pie did not have any peas or corn in it which is unusual. The tortellini bake contained phenomenal ricotta cheese, braised short rib, and Italian sausage. They were served in the cast iron skillet that they were baked in, which was very strange - would rather have them transfer it from the skillet to an actual dish or use cookware other than cast iron to bake them. Cast irons certainly have their place, but not for these types of bakes (in my opinion).
For drink, we each started with a cocktail - my wife got a spicy margarita and I got the Tavern Bourbon. They were good tasting cocktails but were both served in a rocks glass and packed with very large cubed ice which did not leave room for too much of the spirits. We switched to beer after the cocktails because of this. The drink prices are very high for a Tavern. +$14 for the small cocktail, +/-11 dollars for a 16oz IPA or a 24oz draft. Such are the prices for casual dining in 2025 I suppose.
For service, we got seated right away at a high top table by a window, which was nice. We had three different waitresses. Two were runners for the food, the third took our order, brought us our drinks, and ran the bill. Hopefully they all received a percentage of the tip. They take the orders on a handheld POS system, which I personally don't like because of how robotic it makes the experience feel but I understand how it contributes to a consistent flow.
For atmosphere, the ambiance was lovely. Open area dining is the latest trend for these types of restaurants, which isn't my personal favorite but they do a great job with it. We went on a weeknight and it was pretty busy. I can imagine it gets very busy and quite loud on the weekends.
Overall I would recommend for a casual date night, a family dinner night, or to drink some beer and watch sports/hang out with friends. We will...

This is a new establishment at the center of a busy intersection in Attleboro on RT 1 close to the highway and the RI boarder. Easy to find and get to.
The very first thing I noticed is the warm and casual atmosphere, yet the place has a modern open layout that lets in a lot of light.
Next they have a celiac friendly menu!!! They have a dedicated fryer so you can order lots of items from the menu. Including crispy Brussels Sprouts and fried chicken. They have excellent salads and bowls too.
I found the food fresh, and tasty, without over seasoning or masked with junk fillers. Big drink menu and huge bar for those looking to catch a game or catch up with friends in a more casual setting.
Note on parking, they are located at an entrance, so try to avoid parking as soon as you get in because it’s a high traffic area. Find your way around and to the front where to entrance is.
The prices here are appropriate for what you get. Not cheap but the food isn’t cheap.
It’s acceptable for kids and families, but I definitely wouldn’t say it caters to kids or teens. It’s more suited to adults, singles, couples and even young retirees. Not great in terms of noise or seating (lots of high tops) so seniors may not love this place.
I imagine it’s LGBTQ friendly, though not expressly a community hangout.
Overall, it was a great fit for what I need in a dining experience and if you’re in the area for a game or concert, you’ll likely love this place....
Read moreI’ve been a fan of Tavern in the Square since visiting the Cranston location, so I was thrilled to see one open right here in Attleboro — so close to home! My husband and I had such a great experience tonight. Our server, Rylee, was amazing — super friendly, attentive, and just genuinely great to be around. She made sure we were comfortable, checked in at the perfect times, and gave the kind of service that makes you want to come back and request her every time.
We started with the fried pickle chips, chicken dumplings, and burrata — each one was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The fried pickles were perfectly crispy, the dumplings were savory with a great balance of seasoning, and the burrata was creamy and delicious. For our entrées, my husband’s steak was cooked perfectly and so juicy, the fries were crispy and addictive, and my General Tso’s chicken was bursting with flavor. You can tell the chef really put care into every plate. I also had two Tavern House Sangrias, which were refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly.
The restaurant itself was spotless, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the décor made it a very pretty place to relax and enjoy a meal. The whole vibe was fun and welcoming, and everything from the starters to the drinks and entrees hit the spot. We’ll definitely be back soon — and next time I’m...
