I attempted to dine there this evening. There was no wait. We were sat right-away. It took a few minutes for our server to get to the table. Not all of the restaurants tables were sat and only one table was sat after mine. So, id say they were busy, but no wildly so. We placed our drink order and were ready to place our food order - but the waitress cut us off and left to get the drinks. Around 6 to 8 minutes went by before she returned to take our order. It felt like a long enough time that one of my dinning partners commented on it, suggesting that we all put the menus at the end of the table to hopefully attract the waitress back. At this point I started paying attention to how long the service steps were taking. I texted a friend while one of my friends was placing his order. Within a few minutes our drinks from the bar arrived. Soon after a sushi roll that one of us ordered arrived. It was beautiful looking. We waited for the meals... 15 minutes went by and the salads and appetizers had not arrived. We also could not see our waitress. Another 10 minutes and still no food had been delivered. No waitress in sight. No manager visible. I checked the time I sent the aforementioned text message and 45 minutes had gone by with no appetizers, no salads or soups, no food and no waitress or manager. At this point I leaned forward and looked toward the host stand. A waiter, a man who was an employee but not a waiter and a hostess all looked in my direction. I waved to indicate that I needed something and all three looked back down at the counter. A moment later all three made eye contact with me again and again ignored me and looked away. At this point we had been in the restaurant for an hour with no food served. The only items we got were ones delivered from the bar or sushi chefs and both were not served by our waitress. Fed up with the lack of service and the choice that the staff made to not acknowledge that I was in need of something, I called across the restaurant saying, "You aren't going to ignore me." At this the hostess finally approached the table. She said, "I did see you. Sorry." We explained the problem we were having and she said she was leaving to find our waitress. I timed it and five solid minutes went by without the hostess, manager or waitress returning. We finally gave up and walked to the host stand. I indicated that I'd pay for the drinks but that we were not paying for the undelivered food and we were not waiting any longer. The manager finally arrived at the host stand and started listing off food that we had not ordered. She then left the host stand saying that she had to figure out what we ordered so that she could cancel the order. At that point one of my friends did the math for the delivered food on his phone and threw down the cash so that we could leave. I told them that cancelling the order was not the important thing to do and that what they did with our undelivered order was none of my business. This is a restaurant being run by people with little or no skill. I'd guess that it is being run by an owner and management team with little restaurant experience. Other than getting us to a table they failed at every step of service. I am sure that the rest of the food would have been delicious. The sushi roll that actually arrived was great. I just don't think that the risk of being entirely ignored and then having your complaints un-addressed is a good use of your time or money. I was particularly offended that the manager hurried away to the kitchen in the interest of saving money on making food that was cancelled. There are so many restaurants on rt one. Let this one die...
Read moreI've lived in the area for over 22 years and have never felt compelled to write a review of any sort before.. until now. I went to IZUMI for the first time aug28th and got the roasted duck buns - those were very tasty. Similar to Bostons chinatown. Easily the duck buns were 11/10.
After a long shift of work in healthcare from 4am - 2pm the following week, on a rainy afternoon - I came and decided I was in the mood for some ramen. I called IZUMI and ordered their roasted duck ramen - as I figured it would be great if their roasted duck buns were good......(Normally, when not raining my go-to ramen spot is on Newbury St. at RedWhite Ramen - the owner Tok is amazing, very authentic and superior quality food, the dragon ramen does some magic for your tastebuds and it's only 13$! I really recommend!)
The IZUMI service was decently friendly and I picked up my take out of roasted duck ramen. I brought it home to eat in the kitchen and immediately when I opened the lid - I knew something was up. ??
See now.. I'm a very cultural person - I am mixed with over 10 races and have had every type of cuisine known to man- I don't discriminate BUT this. This ramen was utterly foul. I took one bite and it was sour. I took another bite with the noodles and egg and it tasted like regurgitated vomit mixed with Antonelli Poultry stench. I was really trying to eat it though because I was hungry but the uneasy feeling in my stomach made me stop. While this was transpiring my dad smelled the ramen and said it was "completely rancid. It smelled like it been sitting out fermented for days'".
I was still really refusing to believe for myself that the ramen was bad even after my own encounter and my fathers perspective so I got another perspective from my grandma and she tasted it too. All she had was one bite of the broth and said it was "completely no good and sour as in rotten" So I decided to just give it to my dog - because he really eats anything but even my dog did not want to partake in this ramen experience. He just left it in his bowl - lol that was so wrong on my part to give it to him. I didn't waste my time and take the ramen back because nothing will put me back on to this place.. I was up all night the following night with uneasy stomach troubles and vomiting. I'm cringing even thinking about this ramen - and I don't cringe easily as I work...

The pork ramen had ZERO TASTE. The pork chatsu was bland and dry!?!?!? Bland. No color. No seasoning in the ramen nor pork chatsu. The sushi fusion soft crab roll was dry. Dry?? How??? I asked the ramen to be spicy. Waiter said that's impossible. Best thing is he can bring a side of hot chili oil with it. Ok. Lol... ramen came no oil on the side. Had to flag down the receptionist cause the waiter was no where to be seen for 5 minutes.
The color in that ramen came AFTER from the chili oil I poured into it lol..
Anyways.. +$50 later.. Never coming back here. No wonder it was empty.. 🥲😪😪 Servers were kind but not always in sight.
1 star cause the food was expensive, bland but edible. 🫤

Luckly I had $30 in cash. And a nice lady BRENDA another customer over heard what was going on and donated $40. I tried getting her number and told her to take at least $10 from from my cash. She declined. Wow. So embarrassing. So embarrassing.
