El Fogon Authentic Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Auburn Hills

I went here with my girlfriend and her mother for lunch and ordered the cola chicken. The chips they gave us to start with were very stale. The sauce for my meal was truly unique... in a bad way. But the chicken itself was fine. The rice was mushy and didn't have much flavor, but I could tolerate it. The lettuce was lettuce, whatever. My biggest complaint is that they only gave 5 or so tortillas (I ordered corn) which was not nearly enough for the amount of food they gave me. I had to eat about half of the meal without tortillas.

The only time a server came to our table was to give us our food. You have to order your food at the counter. Remember that I came here to eat with my girlfriend and her mother. We were seated at a table for two and the entire surface of the table was covered and cramped. My girlfriend's seat was in the middle of the aisle. My experience wasn't appalling, but this was definitely the worst Mexican restaurant I've been to and I would never...

Ordered take out last night for the first time. I was so happy with the order. The food smelled amazing in the car on the drive home. The staff was pleasant and the set up for checkout/carry out was touch-free, covid safe. The Food was ready when they promised and I was in and out quickly. The food was as tasty as is smelled. I love the authentic bean and rice, the burrito/carnitas was delicious and the vegetables in it were cooked but still crisp to the bite - not over cooked/mushy. My only thing was that the tortilla was wrapped in foil (which is great and then some white paper - wax? thin almost clear? well the paper was so adhered to the tortilla I didn't even notice it and .... might have eaten some - no big deal and I caught it after a couple of bites. Was warmly greeted by a gentleman, put my order in for vegatarian nachos. Once I received my meal there was just jalapenos, a couple tomato chunks and nacho cheese. When I went up to the counter to ask for a side of black beans the girl tried charging $2.50. I explanied to her I was told a could get vegatarian nachos and that mean a plant based protein. I was charged the same as the meat nachos. I asked her why I was being charged extra for beans when it costs less than meat and she replied "that is just what I do". Then asked me what I wanted, I replied a side of beans, after blankly staring at me I asked her to grab the gentleman I first ordered from. She said he left.
