I would gladly get it again, but I'd also gladly seek out new/better Thai food options in the area.
The first time we went I got the Curry Fried Rice with tofu, no egg. I ordered it "between mild and medium" because I know Thai food is usually pretty generous with the spice, but I didn't want to have NO spice either. I ended up thinking it was more of a medium to medium +, but my boyfriend claims he didn't find it spicy at all. However, it was delicious and the tofu is fried pieces and has good texture to it. If I come back (a third time now), I'd probably go back to this.
The second time I got the Peanut Garlic Curry Fried Rice (also tofu, no egg) despite the sweetness warning on the menu. I figured a little sweetness would be good -- my boyfriend says the Pad Thai here had a bit of sweetness but was pretty decent -- but this was like dessert. Once I poured on some liquid aminos to try to balance it out it was much better, but I'd recommend staying away unless you're looking for garlicky dessert.
The fried tofu appetizer is bland and greasy. No seasoning whatsoever, and the peanut sauce was watery and didn't taste like much, either. I ended up just adding the extra tofu to my fried rice.
According to my boyfriend, the Pad Thai is sweet (already mentioned) and the Drunken Noodles are decent. He did mean to order the Curry Pad Thai the first time and forgot, so he'll probably try that next. He's also had the Tom Kha and Tom Yum, and, like most else -- they were both okay.
It's not great but it's not bad, either. 3.5 stars is fair. Prices are cheap and portions are huge, and if you get Entertainment coupons there's one for $9 off -- which is why we came in the...
Read moreUpdate 5/2024: ordered broccoli peanut after 10 years and again it was sugar water. Someone else reviewed a peanut dish saying it tasted like overpowering sugar and they are right. I can't even taste peanut. Maybe other dishes are better but I'm not going to bother trying again. Thai Rose or Thai Fix it is then.
Went there for lunch expecting to get some good Thai. I did not get it. The soup was a misfire. It was a lazy cross between egg drop and hot and sour. It was more egg drop than hot and sour. No water chestnut, bamboo or mushroom. No peas and carrots. Just egg drop with soy, lime juice and heat. I ordered a Thai peanut dish. Broccoli with chicken in a peanut sauce. What I got was NOT what I have had at Taste of Thailand or Sy Thai Shores. It was just plain gross. It did not have the distinct velvety smooth tan peanut sauce. It had goo. See-thru goo with bits of garlic and other stuff in it. It was sweet. Like they started to make sweet and sour but remembered at the last second that I ordered peanut. I brought it home and added some peanut butter. No help, the goo flavor was just too far off to make it taste good. Now I'm gun shy. I love Thai but usually get one of 3 or 4 dishes. If they missed 1, I'm severely limited in my selections. I do not think I will eat here again because of...
Read moreI have been getting take-out here every week for the past seven years. I have spent thousands of dollars here. This was my first exposure to Thai food and it is the best. I can not say enough good things about this restaurant. I would like to work here for free just so I can learn how they make their food. In the over 350 times I have ordered from here they only messed up my order once. They are very serious. I have tried everything on the menu. My regular dishes that I recommend are: Pad Thai Curry, Pad Woon Sene, Curry Fried Rice, Kow Pad Fried Rice, Kow Pad Gra Praow, Kow Pad Prik, Pineapple Curry Fried Rice, Pad Bai Gra Praow, Gang Garee. I no longer work in Auburn Hills, so I wont be getting it weekly anymore, but whenever I am passing though I will always pick some up. Thank you Thai Fortune, for exposing me to...
