I will never ever return here!! We brought family to this restaurant from out of town. Came to the restaurant for some good seafood and service . Food was OKAY , had better. The service AWFUL !!!! Family member ordered crab cakes , they came out totally wrong . Plate was sent back and they tried to return 20mins later . Order of crab cakes was entirely to long of a wait . Our waitress disappeared , hostess had to step in but wasn’t much help . Finally we canceled the order before SORRY Manager brought meal out to the table . Poor communication because he didn’t even knew that it was canceled . Then he has an attitude because we canceled, everyone else was done with there meal by then . My family member was not happy at all. He did not even bother to see what was wrong or why was it cancelled or what he can he do to accommodate the poor service . Mind you we do not have no problems paying and trust we have dined at finer restaurants then this . Manager just took plate away said okay in a nasty way and dumped plate in trash . Waitress retuned just to give the bill . Upon leaving out the manager was standing at the door as I passed and he didn’t even say have a good evening or nothing . That is so unprofessional !! I hope if you do decide to go you won’t have this happen to you . This is an embarrassment to me for my out of town guest . I...
Read moreI was recently hired to photograph a few of O'Brien's dishes. I also had an opportunity to enjoy the Michigan salmon salad, shrimp cocktail, blackened salmon alfredo, fried green tomatoes and seafood diablo. All the dishes were so delicious. What stood out for me was the blackened salmon alfredo. I have had a lot of different salmon dishes but this one just puts the comfort into food. Paired with a good white wine, I was in heaven! I go to a lot of restaurants in the greater Detroit area. Over 200 in just the last year! This place is a classic. I like the warm and fuzzy and nautical feeling of the restaurant. Perhaps because I am a boater and enjoy good seafood. The bar is top notch and clean and the owner Dan is a genuinely nice, has a great sense of humor and is passionate about the dishes he serves. He is going on 31 years in business and has a real loyal following. I will be one of them. The staff is very friendly too. If you had not tried this place, then I would highly recommend you do. And I know you will be back!
I had recently went back and tasted more of the dishes and added new ones. This place ought to be featured on Triple D! I highly recommend O'Brien's Crabhouse. This...
Read moreThis was probably one of the worse meals that I have ever had at a very expensive cost! The service was awesome very attentive but the food was just not very good for the price. I have been seeing their commercials for years and finally decided to drive all the way there. It was disappointing from the clam chowder (way to thick ~ IMHO) the stone crabs four for $68.00!!! to the small scallops. This was coney island faire at higher than Mitchell's prices, unlike Sherman I will not return!!!
Captain Dan thank you for your response. My experience and costs was so bad I could not wait to write a review. You did stop by once! My response to your inquiry was that everything was ok. We advised the waitress that things were just ok. I stand on my comment that the food was not very good but it was indeed very expensive $173.00 (including a 20% tip) for two people is unacceptable for what we received. I believe I know what good food is and isn't! I believe I know what a fair price is and this wasn't, we eat at restaurants all over the region (country...) and this dining experience was not...
