Let me preface this review with some useful information: I usually don't review below 3 stars unless something is really wrong (check my other reviews), I love Firehouse Subs in general, and I know that places like this can change overnight with new staff, so I try not to be too harsh. However, this location as it is staffed and managed now is BAD.
I ordered a sub with my father, who is lactose intolerant, so he always orders no cheese and says it slowly and clearly multiple times whenever he orders fast food, as places tend to still put cheese. He orders his sandwich with no cheese as always, and we wait for about 30 minutes for two sandwiches. Mind you, this location was not even that busy at the time. As you can probably guess, when we received his sandwich, it had cheese. He cordially goes to the counter and tells one of the workers making sandwiches that his sandwich has cheese, and he ordered it without. They say they will make him another sandwich - cool! We don't really want to wait another 20 minutes, but his sandwich can not have cheese for health reasons, so we accept our fate.
Now, this is where things take a turn for the worse. One of the workers making sandwiches turns to the guy next to him, which we later find out is the "manager," and begins to whisper quite loudly that my father did not order it without cheese - an accusation that got my blood boiling. I stood up and asked them if they were really having that conversation within earshot of customers and that it was very unprofessional. My father, being quite upset by this time as well, walk to the cash register and asked for a refund. An employee who was not the manager and had nothing to do with the issue steps out and says that he is already making the sandwich (I assume as an excuse not to refund). My father asked for the manager, to which the young man making the sandwich said he was. Mind you, this is the same fellow that is allowing his employee to disrespect and accuse a customer in front of everyone. By this point, many employees who had not been present before, when everyone is waiting 30 minutes for their sandwiches, had gathered around the cash register. I wondered to myself, how does a store become this mismanaged?
I know everyone likes a pros and cons list, so here we go:
Pros: -Good tasting sandwiches -Pretty clean facilities Cons: -If you have an allergy, they don't care -Combative and unprofessional staff (not all) -Poor management -Long wait time (no matter the amount of customers)
TLDR: Do yourself a favor and drive to the Firehouse Subs in Opelika. You will get your sandwich faster despite the distance and you will not have to deal with rude staff at a...
Read moreI really like Firehouse. I was pretty disappointed when I ordered a salad at the Firehouse on South College and they were out of lettuce. I am a pretty understanding person because I know life happens. But… nobody apologized or tried to accommodate my needs. It was kind of shrugged off like “not my problem so why bother”. It kind of worries me that management needs to step up their game when ordering their food trucks for the week. There is a Walmart directly behind this Firehouse so they could have easily considered buying a couple heads of lettuce until the next truck came (unless that is completely against policy). It changed my perspective on this particular store. I hope to have a better experience if I ever go back. If you go, make sure to call ahead and verify they have what you are...
Read moreMy experience at this location was terrible. I walked in and saw a large group of people waiting. However I was still going to order because my son loves firehouse subs and needed something to eat. While waiting an employee began to get angry and threw meat on the meat cutter and began to curse out loud. This upset me because I had my small son with me. However I still stayed and waited to order. Once I got to the counter, the employee told was very rude and looked me up and down and told me I would have to wait 35 minutes till my order(a ham and cheese sandwich) would be ready. I then told them I would not be purchasing any food and left with my son. I am very saddened that employees of a business like this would act so...
