This place is close to my office and I would get lunch here semi frequently. Today was the first time I have been in 3 or 4 months and they have literally doubled the price of everything on the menu and the quality has taken a nose dive. The torta is my typical go to, it was $6 for just the sandwich 3 months ago, I called my order in today and when I get there to pick it up it has gone up to $12.99 and now comes with a side of fries. Similarly sopes, another one of my staples, went from $2.99 each to $4.99.
As for the food the quality was nowhere what I had been used to. The bread was stale and the bottom on one side of the sandwich was split in half and all the fillings fell out when picked up. The plate would have been better if they had just left the fries off, they were greasy, soggy, and not at all seasoned- not even salt.
This used to be one of my favorite lunch spots but I won't be back after this experience, certainly not at the...
Read morePlace looked as it has a grease patina over everything. Tables, booths and chairs are wore down, and interior decoration is not a strength of the restaurant. Food was almost ok, a greasy, like lard, taste was present in the beef, chicken and pork of the tacos. The tortillas were not the best in town, but not un eatable. They were somewhat hard and flavorless, maybe they were not fresh. The beef in the carne asada plate was only warm at the moment of serving, which maybe was an indication that it was warmed up instead of freshly grilled. The texture of it was chewy and with some hard cartilaginous or greasy parts that I had to trim out. Not the best cut in town either. Service was ok, not very friendly but not...
Read moreWe tried this place on the recommendation of a local blog, Off the Eaten Path. I wanted to like it, but honestly, I didnt. Well, let me correct that, the cheese dip and chips were amazing. We will go back for just those. The flavors were not what we expected. Not sure if that is because we are used to American style Mexican food, and this is more authentic Mexican food. The chicken was over cooked. The carne asada was tough although my son said it had good flavor. Given the disappointment in those two dishes, my wife was leery of trying the barbacoa. The service was slow, but that was actually a plus, because everything was prepared fresh. Doubt if we will return for anything other than the...
