I walked in the door and immediately inside the entrance is a stack of paper menus. I picked one up, scanned the options, approached the cashier and ordered a veggie frittata listed on the menu for $6.95 so I assumed it was a little bite sized item for that price. I added a lemon muffin I saw in the pastry case where they had muffins, brownies and cookies, therefore the average person would anticipate these to be sweet items. The total came to around $15.50 or so, with tip, the two items put me over $17. I know inflation is a real issue for everyone, but by deduction, to get a total amount of $15.50, the lemon muffin would be $8, costing more than the frittata. I questioned the cashier on why the total was so high if the frittata is only $6.95? She replied “the owner has not updated the menu prices yet, the frittata price is actually $9.95”. Really?!?! That is strait up FRAUDULENT and NEGLIGENT behavior from a business owner. I don’t know anyone that stays in business by misrepresenting their prices to be lower than they actually ring up. The lazy owner could at least take a sharpie pen and cross out the price on the paper menus stacked at the door if he is too cheap to edit and print new paper menus. After asking for a refund of the frittata (which, per my receipt description, rang up as “quiche” because again, “the owner has not updated the description in the system” ), I ended up leaving with a single lemon muffin that cost me $7 (with tip). The muffin was a secondary issue. The muffin was very dense (not a bad thing, I just anticipated a lighter texture for a muffin), with only a hint of lemon and a strong bitter aftertaste from too much lemon rind. There was absolutely zero sugar. None. Zip. I’ve never eaten a muffin that has absolutely no sweet component of any kind. A little applesauce would help. Perhaps some signage indicating that this business is a sugar free facility might help prepare customers for that first bite of blah. I’m not sure how Zola’s is still in business if this is how they run their operations. Save yourself some time and money and visit another coffee shop in Auburn who’s owner actually cares about the customer experience.

Zola’s was an unexpected hit for us. The space is somewhat small but cozy and welcoming, with varied seating options, including a couch by the fireplace. The staff were kind, and the options for food were a pleasant array. We ordered HASHBROWN BREAKFAST SANDWICHES with bacon, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The meat is an additional cost, but worth it. The hashbrowns were perfectly grilled and robustly seasoned with cracked pepper, and the inside is filled with cheese and 2 eggs. While you can’t eat it with your hands like a typical sandwich, it is delightful and easy to eat with a fork. I will be ordering it again. Dessert was CARROT CAKE, and for someone that enjoys cake much more than frosting, this was satisfyingly balanced in the proportion of frosting. Delicious! For drinks, Zola offers complimentary self-serve water with metal cups (thank you for this environmentally conscious choice!). We chose some hot drinks—I opted for the CHAI TEA, which was spicy and sweet and dusted with cinnamon. They offer many alt milk options! My husband and I both noticed that the amount of liquid in the narrow mugs we were served drinks in was definitely less than the 16 oz we paid for. Though wasteful, we would recommend opting for the 16oz to-go cup to ensure you get your money’s worth. Overall, we will be visiting Zola’s again and trying more of their delicious healthy-ish bakery items along with the Hashbrown sandwich.

A bit disappointed going to this cafe. I usually never rate places but this one wasn’t the greatest experience like I thought. I went close to closing time so that might be why. The lady behind the stand didn’t talk at all and there was no greeting, had a grumpy face and wouldn’t answer simple questions. I had a smile on and tried to ask how her day was and hopefully cheer her up. Anyways that didn’t work. The food wasn’t what I expected. $9 for Bread with a thin sliced chicken and a bit of melted cheese. It had no flavor! They took 15 minutes preparing it. Only thing I liked was the the outside seating area was decorated with palm trees. The police station next to it was great especially when they went speeding on by with loud sirens. At least I felt safe sitting there.

I’m very disappointed with the service I received today at Zola’s. Firstly, the person taking our order was rude and monotone, and kept making weird facial expressions throughout my order. Along with that, he glared at me when I did not tip (which I am glad I decided to do due to the awful service mentioned later). When we received our drinks and food, the guy and other employees gave us multiple items that were not ours. We ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon, and she brought us another burrito (which was later clarified as a veggie burrito) AND left it there unattended with no comments on what either burrito contained. We had to open both burritos to check (which were both wrapped with aluminum with no seal protection to prevent opening). Along with that, 2/4 people we came with had incorrect orders. My friend ordered an ICED shamrock latte and it was served hot. My other friend ordered a bacon and egg bagel, and the bacon looked so undercooked and the bagel was practically burnt. It appeared it was just microwaved, even though it took more than 10 minutes for the food to come out. The waitress came back to us multiple times to ask us what we had ordered and when confronted about the possible food being re-served to another table, the waitress seemed unaware of the food safety hazards that come from re-serving food to another customer. As someone who previously worked in food service, this is completely unacceptable and could be a major health violation and danger to clients. Not to mention, after the confrontation, the employees were staring at us the entire time while we ate, causing us to leave very promptly. On our way out, no one said anything to us and it was not an enjoyable experience. I will not recommend this place to anyone, and advise others to not come here for their multiple safety hazards. There are numerous other reviews besides my own that show that this place is under bad management, improper training of employees, giving incorrect orders/someone else’s orders, and multiple food...

My husband and I used to LOVE going to this place with the first owner who owned it she was super friendly kept cleaning standards a priority and maintained a good cup of coffee and delicious healthy food every time. After she handed it over to someone else we never ended up going back but my husband and I thought we would give them a try again excited and hopeful to see the same thing and unfortunately we left upset and confused. My husband and I both ordered Iced coffee's the lady who helped us was nice/friendly but seemed very flustered doing 20 things at once...They seemed understaffed with not enough hands to help out which is fine totally get being understaffed but then everything went down hill after that when she started making our coffee's. She grabbed our cups from the INSIDE of the cup with her dirty hands after just touching filthy cash and etc!! She then proceeded to continue to HOLD our cups like that from the inside.. To some people that may not seem like a big deal but as someone who works in the food drink business and who used to work in a hospital and has took a handful of sanitation classes etc that is absolutely unacceptable and unsanitary practices! My husband and I paid around like $15.00 plus tip for 2 drinks that we ended up having to throw away because germs are a real thing and that is absolutely disgusting! Again some of you might not think that is a big deal but it is very unsanitary no matter how you look at it and should never be done that way..Confused as to why someone would even think that is ok to do but again just our opinions.. I always consider giving people a second chance because things happen.. But when I ended up emailing them and heard absolutely ZERO response.. (We were hoping to be able to get a refund) That truly shows how much they truly DONT care about their customers and making the moment right for their customers. So For ALL these reasons my husband and I will NOT be returning to this place or giving them a...
