I travel for work so I swung by on my way to a job for lunch. They close at 1:00pm and I got there at about 12:45. The bagel was toasted to perfection and the egg was properly cooked, but the turkey sausage was undercooked. I also got hash browns that were soggy and undercooked. I understand that I showed up just before closing, but if it was going to be an issue to make my meal, I wish they would have turned me down as a customer. The cashier's service was poor. She rolled her eyes at me and my coworker frequently during our order. I could see being frustrated if we had outlandish requests but we ordered simply and off of the menu. Another employee was more friendly when we were delivered our food. Read moreNOW... the bagels are some of the best I've ever had (and I've had hundreds of different ones traveling for work in NJ, NY etc). What was once a shrunken, firm and dull flavored bagel with overly thick crust is now delicious with just the right level of fluff and thickness, and a perfect layer of crust. A go-to order is the pork roll, egg and cheese on a toasted everything -- it's heavenly.
This is an updated review to reflect major improvements. I'd gone a couple years without Red House because of bad customer service, wrong orders and mediocre bagels, especially sandwiches. During Covid, we gave them a try again after hearing great things from neighbors. I can't imagine they have the same bagel recipe or management from a few years back because they have been all around amazing all ten orders in the past...
Read moreI usually enjoy the bagels here... But this time I ventured out and got a platter without the bagel.... Can I say... Soooooo disappointed.... They charged me $8 for burnt frozen version of homefries and chopped up sort of steak.... So needless to say I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE EVER... and I am going to be sure that I share my feelings with everyone that I know.. My problem is not the price or the horrible food because everyone has a bad day or 2.. But the fact that I expressed that I was not pleased and as a long time customer was not accommodated at all... So my family and friends will be finding another bagel shop to support.... Good luck Red House... Because word of mouth is wayyy better than any tv or radio...
