My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner. Atmosphere was a bit more casual than I expected, but no big deal. They had our table waiting for us when we got there due to our reservation, unfortunately it was by the door. The reservation asked if we were celebrating anything and I checked the box for anniversary. That didn't change anything. The waitress did not even ask about our anniversary. Waitress was very pleasant and helpful with menu questions and even suggested something off menu from the bar if my wife didn't like any of the listed cocktails. The custom cocktail she got was great, even if a bit pricey.
We ordered the Brussels and Potatoes to start and it was quick and delicious. My wife ordered the pork chop and I ordered the filet mignon. I was only drinking water and my water ran out and was not refilled until I asked after about 20 min. Finally I was brought a bigger cup and my wife was promised one as her water was now empty. That cup never came. We waited 40 minutes for our entrees to finally arrive and were only checked on once in that time.
Entrees arrived, well plated and looked appetizing, except my filet was not what I normally expected. I'm not much of a filet guy, as I usually eat Ribeye and New York Strip, but filet was all they had. The filet I'm used to is the center cut style filet that's relatively round and cut across the grain. This filet was the end of the filet with long striated grain still together in that awkward end cut shape that's not appetizing and not nearly as tender as the rest of the muscle. It had also not been trimmed and came to a point where the tendon attached to the muscle. Not my idea of a filet. My crab and lobster mac and cheese was without lobster as they were out of that and the taco meat that night. The mac and cheese actually didn't have any crab flavor either and just tasted like a fancy mac and cheese. It was also warm at best. Not cold, but definitely not hot. My wife ordered the pork chop and due to whatever beer brining process it tasted like hopps. I've done meat in beer before and never had it have a sour spoiled aftertaste. It's hard to explain, but not appetizing at all. It basically tasted spoiled. When the waitress came to collect the used plates and ask if we were ready for the check she asked if everything was good and I mentioned the porkchop. Her answer was just "oh really?" Not really any apology or asking to take anything off the bill or whatnot.
Overall we were not impressed and probably will not be back to give it a second chance for the prices we paid and...
Read moreThis restaurant has charm and delicious food! The wine and liquor selection is amazing, and the food never disappoints. I've had anything from the charcuterie plates to the unique sandwiches and burgers. The mushroom-spinach sandwich with manchego on rye was probably my favorite, the Kobe-beef sliders with brie and caramelized apples as a close second. The menu does change a little from time to time, so you'll find new favorites and miss the old ones, as the chef creates new things for customers to try.
My only complaint is that last time when I visited, the bar tender ignored me for 10 minutes before even asking what I wanted to drink. The other server brought me a glass on water, while I was waiting. I'm not one to ask a restaurant worker to pay attention to me, so I waited until she bothered to ask me what I wanted. Whether she saw my Groupon sitting underneath my wallet or not, I can't say. Regardless, it's not my fault if some others with the coupon come in and act like jerks by not tipping enough. After ordering a glass of wine and sitting there for a while, my food sat in the window for another 10 minutes. Not sure, if she was intentionally ignoring the plate because they didn't seem that busy. She never checked on me to see how the food tasted until at the end, and then it took another 10 minutes after I was done and asked for the check, for it to actually be printed out. By this time I was pretty frustrated for being ignored the entire time, and for all of the components to take so much time, so when the Groupon was deducted from the check and my total came to $8, I gave the bar tender a $20 bill and stated 'no change'. It was as if by some miracle she found her manners and started asking me all kinds of questions about my choice of wine, the dining experience and enthusiastically recommended for me to return for the Sunday brunch.
I will edit my review to reflect 5 stars, after my next visit to your establishment... hoping it will be as great as all of the times before the one mishap...
Read moreMaybe this is an anomaly and we just happen to get a bad server, but this was my first time experience there and it was TERRIBLE.
I had reservations with two other friends and although the restaurant was busy, it was not full and there seemed to be plenty of servers available. We were quickly seated, our server came & we ordered drinks for the two people in our party that were seated, waiting for one person to arrive who was parking the car. The other person showed up within five minutes and we waited. After 15 minutes, the server had not come over to take the other parties drink order or to deliver our drinks. Finally we had to go to the bar to pick up our drinks that were sitting at the bar, waiting to be served.
She finally came over to take the other persons drink order and to take our food order. I also ordered another drink. The bartender finally bought our drinks after about 10 minutes when he noticed that our server was not apparently coming to get them.
Our food came out after about 25 minutes for two parties at the table, I had to wait another 10 minutes for my food to arrive. When I did get it it was warm but not hot and not really cooked to order. The other two parties at my table who received their food earlier said their food was lukewarm.
The whole time we were there the waitress walked by our table without checking to see if we needed anything & we were waited on (when we were) by other employees in the restaurant more than our server.
It was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I have ever had. I will not go that...
