This was our first time visiting French Market Grille, and we had an amazing time. It was actually a stroke of luck that we decided to come here, but because so many restaurants are closed by 6pm on Sunday in this area we were very happy that we discovered this place!
When I placed my reservation over the phone with Daniel, he made it so easy. I originally set a reservation for 5, but when I called back later and requested it to be adjusted for 7 people he was able to accommodate it without any issues. He was very welcoming over the phone.
Our table got to try a bunch of different flavors, and we were really pleased with how fresh and flavorful all of their offerings are. Our table tried the following: She Crab Soup, Seafood Gumbo, Catfish Po' Boy, Shrimp Po' Boy, Shell-On Boiled Shrimp, Blackened Filet, Fried Crawfish and a variety of cocktails. We also tried a couple of the specials that they had that were not on the menu, including: Frog Legs and the Soft-Shell Crab Entree. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food.
The biggest thing that stood out aside from the fresh menu was the service that we received from Desmond. This guy was incredible, his high level of service is what you would expect from extremely upscale restaurants. The restaurant closes at 9pm on Sunday and we were there well past 9pm, he was so friendly and truly made us feel like we were at home. We felt absolutely no pressure to leave â and he even offered us desserts as we were finishing up. Desmond encouraged us to stay as long as we needed and to please enjoy our food, even when we asked him for to-go boxes. He visited us SO many times and made sure that we had everything we needed. Desmond, thank you for leaving a lasting impression on all of us.
Update 9/24/23: Added more photos from a recent lunch visit and we received very lovely service from Julia! My wife enjoyed her Shrimp Salad that came with Feta Cheese and Kalamata olives â plus the She Crab that is always so flavorful. I enjoyed trying the Fried Oyster Poboy. Very nice lunch portions, super friendly staff, and...
Read moreToday was me and my family first time at French Market Grille. It was about 16 of us out celebrating Motherâs Day for their Motherâs Day brunch. From beginning to end of experience there were a lot of hiccups. 1.) When we get there they donât have our reservation. I literally had to show them my call log to show that I called on 5/2 to make reservation with a manager. I was told I had to make reservation with manager because we had a party bigger than 10. Iâm guessing the manager I spoke to did not write down our reservation (wish I could remember name of manager I made my reservation with)âŚ..the staff today was pretty nice about the situation and honored my reservation and continuously made sure that we were good the whole time. This is the only reason Iâm giving 3 stars because of the kindness of staffâŚ2.) A couple of the dishes were dirty (see picture). My niece had to get two different cups because every drinking cup that was given to her had dirt and specks on it as well as the plates. 3.) They ran out of waffles. If youâre throwing brunch you should try to keep your most popular item in stock. Chicken and waffles are usually a popular brunch item. 4.) They ran out of to go plates and gave my mom a big aluminum pan, like the ones used at a cookout đâŚ(see picture) it was funny but then itâs like come on man really lol.
Overall it was an okay experience. If it wasnât for the manager guy coming to check on me and my family consistently then I wouldâve gave 1 or 2 stars. The food was okay nothing too special to rave about. My niece crab cake was mushy, no flavor. The shrimp and grits was okay. I was expecting some andouille sausage and peppers in it but it was just plain cheese grits with fried shrimp dropped on top of it, not mixed in. The decor is outdated and itâs pretty old and a little dirty inside as well. Not sure if Iâll go back. We just wanted to go because we heard great reviews but our...
Read moreThis was our first time dining at French Market Grille for our Saturday date night, and we had absolutely no regrets! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and immediately felt welcomed. The restaurant itself has such a beautiful, inviting atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the evening.
Our server, Sonja, was outstandingâattentive, kind, and made sure everything flowed perfectly. We started with a spread of appetizers: the marinated shrimp, Cajun wings, crawfish popcorn, and a half dozen steamed oysters. Every bite was packed with flavor and gave us high expectations for the entrĂŠes to comeâand they did not disappoint!
For our main dishes, we ordered the West Bank Duo (Combination Plate) and the Crepes Louisiana. Both were absolutely delicious, but that Crepes Louisiana with the sauce was a standoutâso rich and flavorful!
What really elevated the experience was when the owner, Shadrick, personally came over to greet us. He noticed we were new faces and made us feel like old friends. He even shared a bit about his other spot, Raeâs Coastal Cafe, which we are already planning to visit soon.
And just when we thought the night couldnât get any better, we decided to try the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. My husband usually doesnât care for peanut butter, and Iâm not much of a dessert personâbut we both LOVED it. It was the perfect sweet ending to such an incredible meal.
From start to finish, everything about this visit was top-notchâthe service, the food, the atmosphere, and the personal touch from the owner. My husband and I will definitely be back soon. If youâre looking for authentic Louisiana-style food with amazing hospitality, French Market Grille...
