The four of us went out. We're all line cooks, so you know we can tell when the BOH doesn't care anymore. My friend wanted a scrambled egg on his burger. We were told no. Only fried eggs. This had us mystified. He asked, Can you fry it over hard? The waiter said yes. So he asked, well can you stir it up a little first? It was funny, but he didn't get what he wanted. I couldnt help myself out of professional curiosity I needed to know what malfunction was preventing the line from producing a scrambled egg. We were told "Hes been here 13 years. He just wont do it." We were in awe of that answer. We are in town to cook for the tournament. No is not an answer in our tool kits. Then my turn came. I had picked the tempura fried fish tacos. I love fish tacos, especially crispy tempura batter, so good. The tacos came out sprinkled with cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love cheese. But it doesn't belong on a fish taco. I didn't remember seeing it on the menu but ok. I was still in it at that point. But the real problem came when I noticed the fried bread crumb/panko coating on my fish. Panko is not tempura. That was a Gortons fish stick masquerading and it was such a let down. I pointed it out to the server he didn't seem too concerned. I didn't bother to send it back. if he didn't care now, anything he remade would be just as devoid of soul. Everybody at the table had some execution error on thier plate, but nobody wants to complain that much. I paid for my meal and left it on the table. The atmosphere was nice, service was a bit wanting, the food was no bueno but the company was good and we had some laughs at the cooks expense. If you're promising tempura to a table full of line cooks and send us something that ain't, we're gonna notice. And who the hell can't scramble an egg for a guest? Your cook doesn't care about your food and it shows. If that was my restaurant and my staff had that attitude, I'd have new staff...
Read moreI have been to two different Takosushis, and the Augusta location was superior, though not QUITE worthy of a 5-star review. I do not remember the exact names of the three rolls we tried, but I do remember the Volcano, Pajama, and the Fried Asparagus, and let me tell you.. Every. Single. Item. Was absolutely amazing and to die for. Not a single piece of food was under or over cooked, under or over seasoned, and overall it was one of the best experiences with sushi I have ever had. If you go, you MUST try the asparagus and the pajama roll, they were the top hits for our evening. Of the drinks we tried, their top-shelf golden margarita was so fresh and delicious, however, the "Key-Lime" martini left a LOT to be desired. I strayed away from my typical lemon-lavender type drink for once, and it was disappointing despite being recommended by the server. I really didn't taste any key-lime, and feel it would have better been called a "Pineapple Upside-Down" martini. It was a great experience other than disliking the drink, and I highly recommend checking it out! (the wait was surprisingly short on a Thursday evening, however, I know in order to get a table at night on a weekend, you must reserve a seat or get there early OR get there and potentially have to...
Read moreIdk how they food is here because I refuse to eat at a sushi establishment that has a B rating which means you'll either end up with parasites or food poisoning since sushi is very delicate. Secondly the customer service is trash. Was not greeted when I walked in or even after standing in front of the bar for 5 minutes. Only when I spoke up the bartender decided to acknowledge me. Was told I'd be helped in a moment but not I formed that their internet was down until a Caucasian male walked in for orders as well. I'm not playing the race card but it's clear as day who they go above and beyond for and it isn't black patrons. It's a small space so I understand being packed in tight but simple excuse me goes a long way when your being passed by staff so close I can smell the cigarette break on you then you need to open your mouth and have manners. Only one lady did and I applaude her for that because she was working non stop my entire wait time and used common...
