I took my grandson to RedRobin today. We waited close to 15 minutes to be seated, with multiple servers looking at us, as they passed by, but not one person acknowledged us or spoke to us. Finally, after other people came in behind us, getting impatient too, for being ignored, I walked over to the bartender/mixologist, who saw us waiting and asked her if someone could seat us. She sat us at a table in the bar area and said she’d be back. We sat and waited at least another 10 minutes before I got up and went to the bartender and told her what we’d like to drink and if we could have a menu. Once she came to our table to take our order, both my grandson and I explicitly told her what he wanted, since he has many food allergies. When our food was brought out by a different server, I immediately saw that my grandsons order was wrong and told her he had several food allergies and that order wasn’t what he or I ordered for him. She had a very bad attitude with us and literally within just a few minutes, she was back with his sandwich. I asked her if she was sure this sandwich was a new one, since the other one had mayonnaise on it, and if he ate mayonnaise he could have an allergic reaction due to the eggs. She wasn’t in any way concerned and said “nope” and walked away, as I was also asking her for the rest of his order. As I was sitting there fuming mad, the manager came over. She asked if everything was okay and I said no and explained to her my grandson’s allergies and he’d like the rest of his order as well. She said she understood since she too has kids with allergies and she would ask the cook. While the manager was gone off to the kitchen, our server, the bartender/mixologist asked if everything was okay. I again explained the food allergies and how he’d like the rest of his order. The manager came back to reassure us that the cook was careful with his order and not to worry. Our server came back, as we were ready to leave, I told her I was very unhappy, my meal was cold and he still hadn’t received his full order. She said she wouldn’t charge me, only for his soda and she said, he didn’t get the rest of his order either. She did give us the rest of his order as we were leaving. Here’s the cherry… by the time we left and drove over to a retail store in the same parking lot as RedRobin, my grandson became extremely ill!! I truly thought I was going to have to give him his EpiPen!! I gave him a Benadryl, hoping that would help and he wouldn’t have an anaphylactic reaction!! Thank God he wasn’t having any difficulty breathing and the Benadryl helped him after an hour. I did try to call RedRobin several times on our way home, to speak with the manager and let her know how sick my grandson became, but after multiple attempts, no one answered. I really feel that his sandwich was placed on a plain bun, but must’ve still had some residual...
Read moreWe used to enjoy Red Robin—delicious onion rings and the rest of the food pretty good too. The last 5 or so times we’ve been, however, has been depressing. There is always a wait, when you can see into the dining room. And LOTS of empty tables are visible. Tonight, the hostess told the 2 of us there would be a 30 -40 minute wait. The excuse was that the kitchen staff was REALLY busy and overwhelmed. We asked if we could sit at the bar and have a couple drinks to pass the time—she peeked in and told us there were not 2 seats together, so discouraged that idea. My husband asked if we could stand in the bar and order drinks (not an uncommon action in a bar….) and she seemed hesitant, then ducked around the corner to ask her manager, then returned with a solid “no”. As we waited, numerous carry out customers ducked in to pick up orders. After 15 minutes, she offered us a table. There were a total of 7 other tables with people (out of a dining room of 25 or so tables and an almost empty bar). Things improved when Zach, a very charming, courteous, and helpful server arrived and took our orders. Of course, we ordered onion rings…My husband ordered the crispy chicken salad and I ordered the TBLT Croissant sandwich and Mac-n-cheese. The onion rings were great—fortunately no change to a time-tested delicious recipe. The rest of the food ranged from “meh” to “no thanks” The crispy chicken in the salad was overly salty; the “croissant” was a stale burger bun with 3 cross-hatches cut into the surface. You can tell a real croissant when you see all the buttery flakiness on the surface and a cross-section view shows all those little air pockets—stale burger buns don’t have any of that.. The turkey in the sandwich was ordinary cold grocery store-style cold cut layered in. And no steak fries came with the sandwich, even thought the menus lists them as part of that dish. Even Zach the server realized we didn’t want take-home boxes when he saw all the uneaten food on our dishes. The general feel (other than from Zach, who received a 20% tip despite the overall lame experience) was that we didn’t feel that we were really welcome there. As we left the table and headed toward the door, about 6-8 employees were all standing in a group, a la’ water cooler gossip style instead of, maybe helping out in the kitchen or doing other useful restaurant chores. Every time we come, it seems they are short-staffed, and this time the food was sub-par. If the kitchen is so overwhelmed, perhaps Red Robin should consider becoming JUST a carry out place, and just sell...
Read moreI was at the red Robin in Augusta on Monday. My experience here was far worse than I’ve ever had in any restaurant. The one good thing that I can say is that me and the two other people in my party was seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress came over and asked if she could start us out with some drinks and while waiting for our drinks to arrive the manager came over and brang us some complimentary fries and signature sauces, as it was my first visit. We waited over 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive meanwhile our waitress walked by several times and didn’t acknowledge us at all. When she came back to take our order, I ordered the whiskey river BBQ chicken bites with extra crisy onion straws. When my meal arrived, the onions were clumped and still cold, and my chicken was barely luke warm. I brang this to the waitresses attention, and she agreed saying the order was not made correctly and she would have the cooks remake it. While waiting for my food to arrive (for the second time) the 2 other people in my party were supposed to get bottomless fries which they didn’t receive more until after the check had arrived and we had decided to leave. I sat there the entire time watching the two other people eating, very hungry because the chicken was the only thing I ordered. My food arrived after the 2 people in my party was done eating there meals. I went to take a bite of my food before boxing it up and leaving and on my second bite in, I had to pull a hair out from the back of my mouth that was entangled in the food. This made me sick to my stomach and I couldn’t eat anymore. I founds a second hair on my food that I gave to the waitress. I asked for my meal to be taken off the check, which they did (without issue) but I left feeling very hungry and felt as if my frustration was ignored. This was a horrible first experience. If I was the manager on duty I would would have been empathetic and possibly offered me something on the house for the inconvenience and trouble. I don’t know if I would ever return, I understand mistakes are made but this seems extreme and a little...
