I recently had surgery and while recovering, cooking was the last thing on my mind. My mom offered to pick up food from S&S, since it’s my son’s favorite. We ordered 5 different meals and spent right around $50. We live in Aiken, so after getting the food from the employee in a tied up bag, my mom brought it over. Out of the 5 plates of food, only 2 of them were correct. They weren’t even close mistakes either. One meal was supposed to have whipped potatoes and macaroni and cheese, but it had two orders of turnips. One meal was supposed to have whipped potatoes and green beans, but it had macaroni and cheese. Literally 2 out of the 5 plates were fixed correctly. Out of the food that we received, I think we probably consumed about half of it because everything was so messed up. My surgery was on Tuesday, so I’m not allowed to drive yet. I couldn’t ask my mom to go back and even if I did ask her, it’s a 30 minute drive one day. I refused to ask her to spend an hour driving there and back to get the food that was messed up, and then another hour total to get it replaced. I feel like we literally just wasted time, money, and food that we didn’t order. The restaurant was busy, and I know it’s a very fast paced environment, but please urge your employees to take their time and fix the plates correctly. I would have rather it had taken a few minutes longer to prepare the meals than for her to get home and see that most of the food was not what we ordered and was ultimately thrown in...

Rating: 3/5 stars
I recently visited S & S Cafeteria in Augusta, and the atmosphere transported me back to the 90s – in a good way. The cafeteria was very clean, well-staffed, and I was greeted by everyone, which was a nice touch.
However, my experience took a hit when a friend I met outside, who appeared to be down on his luck, was not allowed to eat with me. No explanation was given, and we ended up taking him elsewhere for a hot meal. I was disappointed in the treatment of my friend, and it overshadowed the rest of my visit.
The food was a mixed bag. I ordered fresh fruit and asked if sugar was added, but no one knew. The roast beef was bland, and the potatoes were overcooked. However, the steamed cabbage and deviled eggs were excellent – they tasted just like my mom's cooking.
Overall, my experience was average. While the atmosphere and some of the food were great, the treatment of my friend and some of the food quality issues brought my rating down to 3...
Read moreI am 25 years of age and lived in Augusta ALL my life and never tried S&S cafeteria but I've always longed to. A few weeks ago it was my very first time eating there and I ordered neckbones, mac and cheese, and rice. The entire plate was HORRIBLE I didn't even finish it was just a waste of money. Afterwards, I vowed to never eat there again. A few days ago, my dad offered to buy me a plate from there, I thought about declining but figured it was irrational of me to judge the establishment by one encounter and this time it wasn't my money so what the heck? I kept it simple by ordering the baked chicken, mac & cheese, and green beans. Same results the only thing I ate off the plate was the unseasoned baked chicken and that's only because I drowned it in Texas Pete hot sauce. I would've had a heart and gave them a 2 star but even KFC makes decent mac & cheese, there's was horrible on both occasions. They earned my one star even a decent heart couldn't save my...
