I usually come here during lunchtime, and I usually get good service, but today I was very disappointed, I got 9 tacos three tacos had to be thrown to the garbage, which was the 2 golden medium tripe tacos and a chorizo taco, the two golden medium tripe tacos were not good at all they were super!! Chewy! and the chorizo taco was very salty!! My husband usually eats anything lol but this was very salty. But anyways, so I called the place which I never like to do 😩 I usually just deal with it, but these were three tacos that I did not eat and were thrown to the garbage at the end because I called the taco place and the lady that was working today 04/21/2023 I don’t know her name it was a chubby lady with black hair, when I was talking to her, first of all I order a chorizo with cheese taco but maybe she didn’t understand or maybe she was right I didn’t tell her so I wasn’t going to argue because she told me I didn’t order that 😡 and then I tell her that that taco was very salty she keeps trying to say something back saying that’s how they make them 🤦🏻♀️ then I tell her about the other 2 tacos that was super chewy she answers back once again something else to say that’s how they are usually those type of tacos are very chewy, AND like I said I frequently go there, and no! I never had them like that but I didn’t wanna continue arguing because I could see we weren’t gonna get no where, all I want to her is to understand that the tacos I PAID for weren’t good, and I hate throwing away food and money to the garbage. She was so defensive everything I told her she wanted to argue about 😡😡 so I guess the only solution is not going back. What makes me more mad is that Hispanic people are like this with their own people!!! I know that if it was a white person they would’ve said bring that back and will make new tacos for you or probably give them their money back. I’m only giving one star because the only good thing was...
Read moreMy fiancé Katherine—whose family is from Mexico and Texas—has been lamenting for 23 years in Illinois about the so called “Mexican” food available. She grew up with great cabeza / barbacoa and also fell in love with great Tex/Mex inspired cuisine.
Today, I did specific Google searches to hopefully find Mexican food that Katherine had yet to try and compare to what she grew up with.
After assessing my search results and comparing reviews and by whom, I decided Cemitas Poblanas Con Sabor Latina was the place to stop.
When I arrived, I saw an eclectic yellow and red little building in a nice peaceful residential neighborhood. A nice change from a fast food Mexican restaurant in a typical busy, retail business district.
I was excited to see they actually had Cabeza and so I ordered two Cabeza tacos, one Pastor, one Pollo, and one Asada.
I brought them home.
Katherine said the Cabeza was the best she ever had outside of Texas! I thought the Cabeza was excellent. The Cabeza was moist and flavorful and offered in partly shredded, mini brisket-like chunks.
The Pollo taco stood out. The chicken was not the usual cliche shredded chicken but moist, smaller pieces that were juicy and seemed to be sautéed in a mild red marinade—be it pepper and or tomato based.
The Asada was vey good, and probably some of the best around in Chicagoland. But hands down, get the Cabeza first!
I did not receive the Pastor taco in my bag because I think there was a misunderstanding when we were discussing all the tacos I was ordering. So I look forward to trying the Pastor when I take Katherine to Cemitas Poblanas in person.
The couple who ran this restaurant were welcoming, kind, and were so efficient in making the tacos.
So far, a 4.4 out of 5.
Thank you for your hard work and delicious food.

Visit number 2: This time, I brought Katherine and we dined at the restaurant....
Read moreTwo of my friends highly recommended this place since they both dine in all the time. So our friend group decided to go all together since we trusted their judgment.
It’s all normal, we sit down and there’s a telenovela playing which we LOVED! The place itself is nice and cozy, it feels like you’re at grandmas house. The lady working asked if we wanted chips and we said yes and later we got them and it was fine. We are a group of 6- keep this in mind.
When it’s time to pay we are told the price of the chips, which was weird. She 1) didn’t mention the price when she offered them and 2) why did she wait till we were checking out?
Our two friends said that they’ve never been charged for the chips before so I’m not sure if we are being charged for just being a bigger table. Then there is a required tip each person had to pay, the whole situation was very bizarre and I don’t think of going...
