*Edit (Original review beneath edit) So it broke my heart to change my review from 5 stars to 3 stars, but here's why; after my initial visit & review, I visited the website again to find updated prices and size options for the vegan pizzas. Turns out every pizza can be made at 10" or 14" (which either feeds 1 or 2 hungry people lol) the major downside, it nearly costs the value of an entire pizza to enlarge the pizza to a bigger size. I can understand food cost as I have worked food service, specifically pizza service, but seeing such high price points on vegan offered items is becoming frustrating. For example at a big, authentic non vegan pizza franchise, I can get a 14" 4 topping pizza for under $25, even with double the dough. At T-Mamas, many of these pizzas cost about $40 bucks for a 14"!! I LOVED the food here, but I'm not sure I'll return simply bc I cannot afford, or want to pay, that much for a pizza. Vegan cheese, seitan, soy bacon, meatless crumbles/sausage etc aren't cheap but they don't cost a fortune either & I've been vegan almost a decade. Just seems a bit heavy to pay double to get only one size larger of a pizza. Disheartening at best bc the food here was great. *Original post THE PLACE for vegan pizza options! & hailing from Chicago, let me just say a good pizza is everything to my heart's content lol. My fiance & I ordered the Vegan Alamo pizza with vegan breadsticks & wow, impressive to say the least! 🤤 The food was packaged with care, and the gentleman who took my order over the phone (as well as brought my food out to me upon arrival) was friendly and so helpful. The Violife vegan cheese that is offered is coconut based and sooo good & cooked to perfection! Very tasty 👏🏼 Love, love, LOVE this place & can not wait to come back to try the other vegan pizza options. The only thing I was sort of bummed about is that only 3 of the vegan pizza options can be ordered as a 14" 😕 as a vegan with a healthy appetite I'd like to see maybe more size options available in the future! 🙌🏽 A real hidden gem...
Read moreWe came in very late around midnight to order both of our pizzas. We got one gluten-free cauliflower crust custom pizza, and a regular thin-crust pizza for my husband. Both tasted great in the long run. However, the man who was the only employee that night got my order wrong, halfway through making my pizza he mentioned he can't do the garlic sauce drizzle on top because he didn't want to go heat it up (or something, it was a bit difficult to understand what he said due to his strong accent). So I ended up paying for the garlic sauce on top, and never even got it. The pizza was still delicious but I was a bit let down for that reason, which is why I won't give 5 stars. If it hadn't been for the employee's negligence I'd have given 5 stars. We will likely come back again and I can change my review if my experience is different.
Edit: Came to visit again on November 8th, called to ask if they were open until 3am and he said they're only open for 20 more minutes, and then the male employee locked the door and refused to serve me. It was barely 2:10am and he stopped answering phone calls as well.
Edit: November 9th, the owner gave my husband a call regarding my review. He made it clear that's not how his employee should have handled the situation, and I figured I'd change my rating back again. He made a huge effort to make things right with us, and for that, I'm changing my review back to the original 4...
Read moreMy gf and I are Vegan and decided to try a new eatery. On Friday’s I have the evening off from cooking, so my gf ordered us vegan pizza. To my disappointment I was extremely underwhelmed by the taste or lack thereof and the sub par quality of ingredients. We have prepared tastier vegan pizza at home for a fraction of the cost. For one pizza and cinnamon sticks our bill was a whopping $57. The lack of taste does not justify the moniker “gourmet pizza”.
Additionally, the restaurant is not disability friendly due to having to wait outside (with no seating) for your food. Patrons have to alert arrival by using an intercom system and then made to wait until an employee brings out your food. We also wanted to pick up ONE soda and was told we would have to place a secondary online order, which is inconvenient to say the least. This means that we would have to wait with our food getting cold, go back to the car, access our mobile devices, go to their online ordering system, order ONE soda, then go back up to the building where you can not get in, utilize the intercom system, and wait until an employee fills the order for ONE soda, and then bring it out to you as you stand waiting with no seating (with a disability). Ridiculous to say the least.
We will not be ordering...
