We popped in to try this spot just in time to avoid a line that soon formed out the door and down the sidewalk. Initially, we ordered a slice of spicy margh and sweet sausage, plus caesar salad. Starting with the good but not spot on- sweet sausage slice was excellent in so far as all top quality ingredients but just a touch too sweet for us. The spicy margh was perfection- I love margarita pizza but it can be a little sleepy on the palate. Not this version- snappy red sauce that doesn’t blow you over, but wakes you up to what a complex sauce can be. The dough was impeccable and I will dream of the crust- this is a gold standard thin slice. We ordered a second spicy margh. The caesar was also unique and one of the best I’ve had. It was a bed of mixed greens with a thin, even coating of savory dressing and a nice crunch to the toppings that were easy to incorporate in the oversized serving bowl. This salad is satisfying enough for a light meal- though skipping the pizza may be a papal sin & be careful with that since the pope is a now a “local” boy. Split the salad & eat the pizza! Finally, we split a cold brew affogato and it’s good I don’t live within 3 blocks of Allday or this would be an everyday treat. The soft serve isn’t too sweet and the cold brew is stout- together they create a decadent combo. As you dig a couple bites into the cup the texture becomes an almost slushy, which is simply delightful.
ProTip: when you order your meal at the counter, order the affogato. They’ll give you a chit to bring back to the counter when you’re ready and you can skip the line and get right to your dessert.
4 star rather than 5 because the house wine was meh and service was good, but a bit lacking- didn’t bring napkins with food and forgot to pour my wine- which may mean they agree with the meh. Also, all food is served in paper dishes- I get the pizza, but salad. Overall, these are nitpicks....
Read moreAllday Pizza makes great pizza that's a half step short of excellent. Their fault isn't the taste, it's the execution, but that doesn't mean it loses a star. Hear me out.
First off, don't be intimidated by the line. There were probably 20 people in front of my date and I and we were ordering within 30 min having arrived at 615 pm on a Saturday. It moves fast. We were eating within 10 min of ordering. We got five unique slices of pizza, which means we nearly sampled the menu. Each slice is 1/6 of a pizza so ordering 6 slices is like getting a full pie.
Here's the thing, they perfectly cook their pizzas. The crusts are perfect, the char is perfect, the burnt tips of toppings are perfect. It's the best cooked pizza I've had in Austin. The issue is a combination of the pre made builds and thoughtfulness of what's on them. The spicy margarita slice should have more than one blob of cheese and a couple of basil slices. And work on that spice depth - figure out a better arabbiata, or let me know and I'll teach. The pep and pepp shouldn't have mountains of pepoerocini in some places and none in others. The arugula one is basically a salad. The best slice is the vodka sauce slice, but it's desperately missing a savory component which you need to add on.
It's so frustrating because everything here taste great, but knowing it could easily achieve excellence with a few basic touches is hard. At a minimum this is in the conversation for best pizza in Austin. At worst it's a disappointment because any thought into the food should lead a perceptive eater to finding clear gaps in it. Read moreI’ve ordered from this place twice, hoping the second experience would be better than the first, but unfortunately, both visits were disappointing.
The first time, I ordered a plain cheese pizza. I was expecting something crisp and well-balanced, but what I got was soggy and lacking any real texture. The crust was soft and limp, with no structure or crunch—almost like it had been sitting too long before being served. The cheese also didn’t have much flavor, and the overall pizza felt poorly executed.
Still wanting to give them another chance, I returned and ordered both the tomato pizza and the spicy margherita. Sadly, these were even worse. The dough was noticeably undercooked—gummy and floppy in the center, making the slices difficult to hold or eat properly. The tomato topping was extremely watery, almost like tomato soup had been poured on top of the crust, which further contributed to the lack of texture. The spicy margherita didn’t offer any real flavor complexity or heat, just more of the same limp crust and watery sauce.
Given how much hype this place gets, I really expected better quality and attention to detail. Unfortunately, both visits left me feeling like the product is overrated and inconsistent. There are plenty of great pizza spots in the city—this just wasn’t one of them in...
