We are visiting from out of town so we googled places and saw they had a pretty good review. We walk in it's pretty quiet there is a guy behind a counter who sees us but doesn't acknowledge us. Then we see this lady stand up from a guest chair with an inpatient face only to find out he was making her ice cream she waited some more and checked out that's when he said hi to us. We asked for recommendations so he gave us couple samples. Boyfriend decided on "The Beast" Sunday so he started making it, first thing he did was cut open a plastic bag takes out a brownie puts in on a paper plate and into the microwave at this point my jaw dropped and I couldn't believe I was watching this happen. He takes it puts it in a bowl 1scoop of ice cream and few cut up strawberries(not fresh) that he made sure he did over do. He hands it over and says $9. He asked if I would like anything. At this point I didn't even want him to get the one he just handed over it just looked sad and unappealing. I'm giving it a 2 star because this place has major potential and ice cream isn't bad but the service and presentation is horrible and how little you get what you pay for, I thought this is Texas they do it big but I guess...
Read moreWe visited Amy's @ Westgate on 8/23 around 3pm. The line was out the door and it took us nearly 45 minutes for a group of 4 to get our ice cream and leave. The staff was incompetent and we highly suspected they were smoking pot. They continued to tell jokes to the crowd and move as slowly as possible rather than being considerate of the fact that there was a very long line. When it was finally our turn we were told that the other employee would be helping us while the other girl behind the counter moved on to the next party behind us. Rather than helping us, the male employee proceeded to taste ice cream and make jokes. Then he made our ice cream in the slowest manner possible for the next 15 minutes, while the girl who was helping people behind us helped 3 different parties and all of them paid and left. Why weren't we helped instead? I'll never understand. When I ordered the employee told me to pick another flavor combination because he didn't like what I selected. After all of that!? I was pissed. It was 106 degrees, I am pregnant and waited for 45 minutes for ice cream. Those two employees honestly ruined the Amy's experience for me. It used to be my favorite ice cream in town but I'll...
Read moreI recently visited Amy's Ice Creams off of Lamar and had an amazing experience. I tried the Oatly Vanilla ice cream and it was absolutely incredible - so creamy and rich with the perfect vanilla flavor.
Everything is super clean, and you can watch them make the ice cream fresh right there. The whole place just feels upbeat and happy.
In addition to the delicious Oatly Vanilla, they have tons of creative, mouthwatering flavors to choose from. There's something for everyone. I can't wait to go back and try more!
Overall, I highly recommend Amy's Ice Creams off of Lamar. The ice cream is top-notch, the vibe is fun and energetic, and the employees are wonderful. It's a great spot for ice cream lovers and for anyone looking for a cheerful, yummy experience....
