Edit: changing from 5* to 3* Quality is inconsistent. Went back on 2/24/25 and could not chew the steak in my burrito. It was all hard fat and destroyed my experience. I had to pull parts of the burrito out of my mouth every bite. Every single piece of steak was inedible. I got the exact same thing as last time. I thought I found my favorite place but I’ll keep looking.
Original review: THANK YOU FOR A DAMN GOOD BURRITO!
•Yes, it’s worth the drive! I drove an hour, in the dark while it was raining, during rush hour from way south Austin. I was not disappointed. And believe me my expectations were high at that point.
•Open! The hours on Google were correct. This is important when driving that far and for reliability. I got there one hour before they closed.
•Friendly! I was greeted with the friendliest hello from a gentleman and it was so genuine and authentic, and then the lady who took our order was also friendly and happy to help us. The whole interaction was all smiles 😁 I love feeling welcomed and treated like they are happy I’m there.
•Outdoor seating, would be dog friendly. There’s a handful of picnic tables in front with umbrellas. On a decent weather day this would be perfect. I didn’t get to enjoy the outside because it was raining but maybe next time, I’m always looking for places I can bring my doggies along.
•Supper Burrito is PERFECTION! This is exactly what I’ve been craving. This is a hefty burrito filled with really good ingredients. Perfect proportions, perfect flavor. And I have OCD and hate it when i bite into a burrito and everything is uneven, like all the meat at the top and guac at the bottom, I want evenness so i can get a mouthful of everything in one bite. This burrito was put together evenly. I got a mouthful of all the goodness with each bite! Now, I’m a sissy when it comes to spice and there were jalapeño pieces possibly in there guac, i had to pick them out cuz I’m a sissy but it was perfect for my husband because he like a little spice. I still wouldn’t change a thing and next time I’d gladly pick the 10 small pieces of jalapeño out so my sissy ass can handle it.
•I’ll be back for more and I recommend y’all try this place!...
Read moreI read a review from someone being from NorCal and saying how they remembered burritos back home being just like this. Unfortunately, I am from SoCal, and those burritos come with refried beans. Granted, their menus does say "pinto beans" and I just assumed when they referred to pinto beans, they meant refried beans. The menu also advertises Monterey Jack cheese; I had to take the burrito apart to find any cheese. The flour tortilla is delicious but I am sure they buy these. Overall, it is a large tortilla but filled about 80% with rice, 15% full beans and 5% cheese. And for $9... hardly worth the price.
We tried two regular tacos; a chicken and a steak on corn tortillas. The meat tastes like it was cooked up earlier in the day and has just been sitting in a warming tray. These also came with pinto beans, something I never had in a street taco... and some sauce. No cilantro. The corn tortilla fell apart and just had to eat the tacos with a fork; more like eating a taco bowl.
Their salsa is quite good.
I've read elsewhere the customer service isn't very good and I agree. The person who took my order wasn't very pleasant at all and was even more disagreeable when I picked up my order and asked for more salsa to take with me. And as other have noted, we waited much longer than any other place I have been to.
I have been to almost 100 taco places since moving to Austin and have found a few that are exceptional. Most of the others are just fair at best and this doesn't even rank up there. Again, there are many other choices and I would recommend trying other places before...
Read moreThe food is good but not so good that it is worth enduring the process they have in place. The ordering process is very disrespectful to the customer. He takes one or two orders at a time and then makes the rest of the line stand in the inclement weather for long periods of time. We have now experienced this in extreme heat, extreme cold and rain and the process doesn’t change. This most recent time we only had 5 people ahead of us and waited in the cold and rain for 30 minutes just to place our order. There is no apology, no acknowledgment. I understand the team and truck are small but there are different processes that could be put in place that give the customer information to make an educated decision. Take peoples orders as they arrive. Tell them how long the wait will be for their order based on the number of orders before them. Let the customer decide if they want to wait that long or not. If they decide to move forward with the order text them or notify them when it is ready. Now your customers can do something else with their wait time instead of standing in the rain, cold or extreme heat. You have the nerve to make people wait over 30-40 minutes just to place their order and ask for a tip. I also want to be clear the wait I am describing is just to place your order. You wait another 20-30 minutes to get your food on top of that. Unfortunately we will not be back...
