Eating at this halal trailer was honestly like taking a quick trip to Morocco without leaving Austin. The food had such a comforting depth to it—the spices were warm and aromatic, and the dishes carried that slow-cooked richness you usually only find in traditional kitchens. It wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience in flavor.
What stood out most to me was the attention to detail. The bread was soft and fresh, the sauces tasted handmade, and the balance of sweet and savory in the seasonings felt authentic to Moroccan cuisine. You could tell nothing here was rushed or generic.
The man running the trailer gave the whole experience a personal touch—friendly, approachable, and clearly proud of what he was serving. It made me feel like I was being invited into a piece of his culture, not just grabbing food on the go.
With fair prices and portions that left me full but not heavy, I can’t imagine not coming back. If you’re searching for food that’s both comforting and full of character, this spot delivers. 10 out of 10, truly something...
Read moreTHE VEGAN MENU IS NOT VEGAN. The food I was able to eat was delicious—seriously fresh and wonderfully made. Unfortunately however, my main entree was this platter: the falafel over rice. As you can see, there is feta cheese on the dish. Not only is this not mentioned in the dish’s description, but the dish itself is located under the “vegan” category in UberEats. I called the place the next day (didn’t want to leave a negative review), but when I mentioned the issue, the person on the phone said that “sometimes vegans like feta cheese” which is impossible since being vegan means avoiding all animal products including dairy. I suggested that he take the item off the vegan menu or at least mention that it has cheese. I’m not sure this is going to happen and I think it should so that another vegan person doesn’t pay for something they won’t eat, so that’s why I’m leaving this negative review. I want to emphasize that if you’re not vegan the food is excellent, and if they clear up what is actually vegan it will be great in that...
Read moreI'm gonna be bold and say this may be top 3 best restaurants in Austin for it's price range. The 5 Star rating is truly earned.
The Tajine was excellent - truly excellent. Everything is completely handmade (with one exception the cheesecake which he says he buys from a local bakery). However, even the baklava he makes by hand at his house in the morning.... And you can taste it - the nuance in flavor is there and it's clear there is immense care that went into it.
Abu is super kind and very receptive (asking how spicy I wanted it, whether I wanted some homemade hot sauce with my hummus, and small touches that just (as a service person) really went above and beyond. Food came quickly. (Even faster than some places that just warm things... and he had to make the kofta balls by hand...)
Never would have expected it across from a gas station but that just defines it as a true hidden gem.
I will be back......
