Overall, I’m very happy with this hotel. When I arrived, I told another friend I loved it and that I would want to stay here again when we are back in Austin next. That opinion changed a bit based on our time spent at the pool, but I would still likely book again.
Checking in was fast and easy. The person who processed my check in also walked me to the elevators. My room was clean, smelled nice, and noise was minimal. I noticed I was out of tissues and decaf coffee in the morning. Someone came up fairly quickly after I called to replenish them. There was a miscommunication which meant that person initially brought towels, but quickly came back with what I needed.
My only complaint is that the staff at Zanzibar had a friend who was staying with me pay to enter the pool. She arrived to the hotel after me, and when she entered, the Zanzibar attendant asked for her name. When they didn’t find it on the list, they told her she had to pay. She didn’t realize she needed to give my last name (the name the reservation was under) and paid because she didn’t want to cause an issue. When we brought the issue up to management, we were told we would have to resolve it through resort pass and coordinate between them and the hotel (i.e., easy to collect the fee, not easy to give it back). It felt like an empty apology and like they had no real desire to help with a solution. When I’m at a place where I should be able to relax, especially when I am consuming alcohol, I need to be able to trust the people who are working and serving us. I didn’t feel like we had that here.
Rating on its own, the pool area was excellent. The view isn’t picturesque (directly faces another large building), but after midday, it gets great sunlight. The drinks were good, but it took a very long time to order and for the drinks to come out. Most of the food was very good too. I wasn’t a fan of the pineapple salsa, but I don’t like fruit salsas. Again, my only issue was with my guest being required to pay to enter the pool area when she was already a guest of the hotel, and with management seemingly having no desire to assist with a real solution. If we didn’t have the issues we had at Zanzibar, I would rate the hotel 10/10 for...
Read moreGreat property; walking distance to a lot of restaurants/ bars/ attractions. With having a few floors ( 5/6) of meeting/ hosting rooms this is not a quiet property at all! Plenty of seating in the lobby area to kinda accommodate the groups. Bars/ restaurants/ valet / front desk reception all were adequately staffed and super friendly & accommodating! Above & Beyond actually- very very nice to see! We do ALOT of traveling n this hasn't been the case since - yup the dreaded word- Covid! This was refreshing and awesome! Scheduling GM needs a hand shake! Super clean as well. ISAIAN- our bell hop/ valet young gentlemen also needs a hand shake & raise! He is so friendly, well mannered, helpful and was so polished for a young man. Hospitality is his calling! Food in the restaurant on site was very good, hot & fresh! Our room was on the 28th floor; executive king suite and upon going to bed you could still here music and road noise. They offer a pillow spray for relaxation they probably need to invest in ear plugs, which properties do! We travel with a fan so we turned that baby on high, it was much better! Overall great view of Birdie Lake and the massive construction of the high rises but heard 0 noise construction noise. The pool is ok, it's extremely crowded and forget it if they're ate tins of kids. Review pool pictures and I think you'll understand. Overall nice to be able to take a dip.... Restaurant/ Bar attached staff was VERY hit or miss. Great design buy being open to the public and trying to serve the hotel guests, not good! And dressed in pool attire you are singled out causing you to be over missed to the locals not in pool attire. Day 1 after 4.5 minutes without even being greeted- we got up n left. Never ordered food as we were not greeted! Guessing bar rents from Marriott n it's seperate....Overall the property was about location for us. We would try other properties just to try but stay here it was a cool, loud vibe! Complimentary items for VIP members was plentiful n delicious ( M1) ?...
Read moreI want to take the time to write this review because my experience at the Austin Marriott Downtown was truly amazing.||First of all, the hotel is beautiful—very aesthetic, modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. You can tell that the people working here genuinely care and are passionate about what they do.||When we checked in, we were helped by James. He found out it was our anniversary and was incredibly kind. He asked where we were visiting from, and we told him we had come from Dallas to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Four years ago, we spent our honeymoon in Austin and wanted to relive that special moment.||James went above and beyond—he surprised us with a $25 food and beverage credit, attraction passes for two (including the library and the botanical garden), and a breakfast credit to dine at Corinne. I really want James to know how much those thoughtful details elevated our stay and left us with such a beautiful impression.||When we got to our room, I was blown away. As a frequent traveler, I can honestly say it was the first time I stayed in a hotel where the pillows were that soft and the bedding smelled incredibly fresh and clean. Housekeeping is definitely doing an outstanding job.||One of the reasons we chose this hotel was to enjoy the rooftop pool—and we did! Even though it was a cloudy day and it rained a bit, that didn’t stop us. We were able to enjoy a bit of sunshine before the weather turned, and we sipped on a drink by the pool. The staff member who served us was very friendly, and we went with their recommendation—it was perfect.||This is without a doubt a five-star hotel. If you stay here, you’re going to have a great time. Everything is clean, organized, and the employees work with such joy and passion. I will absolutely...
