This place is great, whether youāre vegan or not doesnāt matter. My mom is vegan, and I am not even though I eat vegan a lot of the time. We always try to go to all the vegan places we can and this has become my new favorite. The lemon pepper wangz are a must if you come here, we get them every time. The tuna melt is the best tuna melt in Austin hands down, itās better than the dead fish tuna in a can. Itās amazing. The fish sandwich is also fantastic, those are the 3 things I have had so far. I want to try more, but Iām stuck on the Wangz right now. I think I might have to go again today, two days in a row is not at all weird for a place like this.
1-30-23 Just gotta add, I wish I could review this place again and again! The owner is the best fry cook in town, for real. Heās an artist with that fryer, I have never seen anyone that can make cauliflower that crispy and moist while not being wet. Same goes for his mushrooms. I donāt know how he does it, my wife was skeptical but she ate it tonight and now she sees why Iād rather do this than get popeyes, even my kids!!! Even my kids ask to go here, Iām pretty sure one of them thinks it actually is some kind of boneless chicken lol
I try to get as many people to come here as possible, vegan and non vegan alike, because factory farming is a form of slavery and oppression and we all need to see that, even if you donāt want to go vegan, you can always eat vegan when you canāt get meat that isnāt factory farmed. I myself donāt call myself vegan because I donāt always eat vegan, but if I do eat meat itās not gonna be from HEB or any place that sells meat from places that canāt even treat the animals they slaughter with love...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave you ever eaten an entire head of cauliflower in one sandwich? I certainly hadn't until I decided to stop by Community Vegan on a whim. I'm a former vegan who now eats chicken on a pretty regular basis, and I can say that their Beer Battered Cauli Chick'n Sandwich was out of this world good. Nothing like chicken because it's just cauliflower that has been battered and fried, but delicious in its own right. The batter was definitely my favorite part, it was super flavorful and it paired perfectly with the flavor of the cauliflower, the "money mustard," and the other veggies on the sandwich. I've been to a lot of different food trucks around Austin that serve vegan fried food, and you can't get a sandwich like this anywhere else.
The avocado bites with their house-made ranch were delicious as a side. It was raining and gross outside when I went, but the music was a vibe, and they did have a couple of covered picnic tables that stayed dry. The service was great too; they had my food out in probably five minutes. Next time I stop by, I'm definitely getting a milkshake and trying something new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFantastic vegan food truck that has undoubtedly jumped up to the top of my list of favorite vegan spots in Austin. When it comes to my favorite types of vegan things to eat, it isnāt vegan-food-trying-to-be-non-vegan-food, itās well done unique flavors that just happen to be vegan (hopefully that makes sense?). Why try to be something you arenāt, when vegan foods like mushrooms are just as good if not better than meats. Thatās why I love it when I can find a place that cooks an incredible mushroom anything.
Community Vegan hits the nail on the head perfectly, and they have some of the best mushroom dishes Iāve had in a very VERY long time. If youāre near or far please come by and give them a try. They have weekly specials that are unique pairings, and very friendly staff who want to make dining there an amazing experience. Seating is a bit limited in the park but they do have a railing with bar seating...
