Read moreWe've gone here twice to try to give them a second chance. The first time I went was a few months back - the macarons were too crumbly and dry and didn't taste that great. The second time, we got a raspberry rose entremet and a strawberry cupcake that had a strawberry macaron on top. Visually, the desserts are stunning and the cafe itself is so cute. I really wanted to enjoy this place more. My partner and I have different tastes in desserts and we agreed on all the following points: the entremet had way too much frosting and not enough texture, to the point where I had to scrape off frosting because the roof of my mouth was feeling uncomfortably tingly (and I normally have a very big sweet tooth), the macaron was dry, the cupcake was too dry, and the frosting on the cupcake was overwhelming in volume, and I think maybe there was something about the texture of the frosting that made it so unenjoyable. I had to get rid of a chunk of the frosting here, too. Maybe they use a different type of cream or cheese in these fillings and frostings that I really dislike. I also did not really care for the flavor of either of these desserts, and was really disappointed because raspberry and strawberry are generally two of my favorite flavors in desserts.
We may try to give them one last chance because the visuals make this place look like it SHOULD taste absolutely delicious. I don't understand why the tastes and textures don't deliver. If it's any better on our next visit, I'll definitely change this rating because I really hate giving anything less than 5 stars if I ever...
Read moreI recently visited Rocheli Patisserie with high hopes for French inspired bakery only to be thoroughly disappointed. The overall experience left much to be desired, starting with the taste of their baked goods. It's disheartening to say that the flavors were nothing short of cheap and artificial. The moment I took a bite, I could immediately sense the lack of genuine ingredients and craftsmanship.
Additionally, the decor of the bakery itself was a letdown. Instead of an inviting and cozy atmosphere, the place felt tacky and poorly designed. The attempt to mimic elegance fell flat, leaving me with a sense of being in a low-budget replica rather than an authentic French bakery. Very bad taste.
Regrettably, I cannot see myself returning to Rocheli Patisserie in the future. With so many other delightful bakeries in Austin that offer exceptional taste and aesthetic charm, this establishment falls far behind. I would urge others to explore alternative options and seek out places that genuinely prioritize quality and customer satisfaction. If you're searching for an authentic bakery experience, I suggest...
