Don’t order through DoorDash.
Placed an order for 2 doz glazed, 3 doz donut holes, and a half doz other donuts at 7 AM. Got an email saying a glazed donut was not available, crediting me back the cost of a single donut. The 2 doz glazed did not arrive at all. I got 2 doz holes instead of 3 doz. (The half doz other donuts did arrive.)
No time to reorder from another merchant. This was an order I was sending to school with my son.
I called Crown, and they were not able to communicate in English to resolve the issue. They said it was a problem with DoorDash.
They did acknowledge that they were out of glazed donuts at 7 AM. That seems like a Crown Donut problem, not a DoorDash problem. What donut shop doesn’t have glazed donuts at 7 am on a Wednesday?
If the merchant cannot fulfill deliveries on a delivery platform, they should not commit to serving customers through that system.
My son’s treat for his schoolmates is now late, and I have wasted time on the phone getting the refund straightened out and wasted time going to the store to get the missing donuts.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this was a terrible experience.
Update: If DoorDash has the items priced incorrectly, remove them from the platform (merchants can adjust what is listed on the platform) -- or stop selling through DoorDash. It was 7 AM in the morning, and I honestly didn't even look at the price.
In the past when merchants have had questions about an order (even just what type of milk to use on a tea order), they gave me a call to check on how to proceed. Someone could have called to let me know they could not fulfill the order. Especially if items that are expected will not be fulfilled, this is a basic courtesy. The email I received was vague and did not indicate whether a single glazed donut was out of stock, or all of the two dozen I ordered were out of stock. And... it sounds like they weren't actually out of stock at all; they were just priced incorrectly.
The only credit I received for the order was $1.50, and when I called to ask what happened and to get properly credited, the staff could not help me because of the language barrier. I had to call DoorDash Customer Service myself to get properly credited. Then I had to go and get the missing donuts at another store and make a second trip to my son's school to drop them off late.
The silver dollar sized cinnamon roll does not make up for this inconvenience.
I just took over purchasing 150 donuts monthly for my other son's class. I will be going elsewhere to take care...
Read moreFirst off, this place is my favorite donut shop in N Austin area! They are the only shop with great tasting cinnamon rolls that I've had so far. I'm not a fan of iced cinnamon rolls and most donut shops make them that way except this one. They do have a great variety of donuts. However, since they're so good, the good supply runs out kinda quick, unfortunately. And also the reason this is isn't a 5 star review is because my husband bought an eclair and said the filling tasted like nail polish. Our 5YO son said he liked the outside but not the cream because it tasted like chemicals. Not sure if anyone else has experienced that... anyways.. aside from that, love this little donut shop. Customer service is always...
Read moreBest mochi (rice) donuts in town, hands down. Crispy, chewy but still light, icing is a nice compliment but not too much or too sweet. The flavors are subtle so don't be afraid to pick up a couple you might not normally gravitate towards if they're out of what you initially wanted. (Only downside is that they do tend to run out and they aren't always ready right at opening time- 7 AM is when I was told) I like the Milk Tea but the sugar, taro, coffee, and mango ones are also good.
The other stuff is also good- I like the kolaches and donuts and sometimes get some of those, but the gems here are the mochi donuts for sure. Service is also very fast and the folks in the...
