edit 2: i think it’s agree to disagree. 1) i did not order the side of regular sticky rice. receipt below. 2) your thai mango sticky rice tasted bad. the mango that you called “perfect” is literally overripe. ratings have changed. 3) need to repeat this again. THE FACT THAT I STILL REMEMBER HOW BAD YOUR THAI MANGO STICKY RICE TASTED AFTER 3 MONTHS JUST SHOWS HOW BAD IT IS.
also need to repeat this again. i’ve been to thailand for like 5 times, and the thai mango sticky rice there is 100 times better than this. time to get a couple more local thai people to taste your mango sticky rice. i know as a local vietnamese, even the most authentic vietnamese in austin cannot make a near authentic bun bo hue. the same goes for your thai mango sticky rice. again, would not ever recommend a friend here.
edit: i’m trying to make my review with a funny tone but was called to have written a “lengthy angry review” :( I came here on 7/17/24 for your amazing information. I think the fact that I still remember how much I disliked this mango sticky rice after over 3 months shows how bad it is. Glad for those who like the sticky rice here but not for me unfortunately.
Alright who said that their mango sticky rice is amazing? Maybe it’s just me, but honestly this is probably my least favorite thai mango sticky rice EVER. As someone who has been to Thailand multiple times and has had A LOT of mango sticky rice, there are SO MANY better thai mango sticky rice than this. People raved about their sticky rice, and I had to wait many weeks to get it due to the weird operating hours and I was LET DOWN.
The mango is SO OVERRIPE. IT IS TOO OVERRIPE. I think an ideal mango sticky rice would have soft but not too soft mango. And, here’s the worst part. They didn’t even cook their sticky rice with coconut milk???? The sticky rice is supposed to have that coconut aromatic scent that you can smell miles away. One more thing, you’re supposed to cook the separate coconut milk in pandan leaves so that it smells and tastes better. Their coconut milk is dumped straight from a can.
Not good. Would not recommend a friend here. I make better mango sticky rice...
Read moreThis review is not about the food, but about the owner and how rude he was. we reached there only to find out that they only accept online order. we sat down to order using our phone. when we tried to check out, i kept getting multiple errors about google pay and then a cryptic message about invalid sku. i tried multiple times, removed everything from my cart and tried again and this time, got a message that the food will be available only the next business day. after wasting about 12-15 minutes, i walked upto the food truck and told him how I have been facing issues ordering. He said that they were running out of food and only two items from the menu are available. I told him that I couldn't place order even for those items. He then said he takes orders at the window too and when i took out the credit card to pay for it, i told him if I knew that, i wouldn't have wasted my time. He acknowledged that he saw my family and us struggling to order, but didn't offer any assistance. with my credit card out, i told him that if you accept orders at the counter, why would you put a sign saying online orders only. At this point, the owner got angry and told me that he is not going to sell me food anymore. He started playing the victim saying that he wouldn't let anyone disrespect him. I am not sure what triggered him to be so rude, but if anyone was disrespectful, it was him.
you can check my online reviews, i have never ever posted a review like this.
Reply to owner: the sign clearly says Online Orders Only. And you clearly knew we were there to order and you knew you were going to close the online order. Yet, you offered no assistance. I was ready to order with credit card on my hand, there was no aggression on my part. I merely asked why would you put a misleading board in-front when i could have ordered at the window 15 minutes back. At this point your ego got the better yourself and you refused service...
Read moreFood truck serving country-style northeastern Thai food. They only take online orders, and they advise you to pre-order well ahead of time due to long wait times. That way you can choose your desired pick up time.
The first order we placed was for Pad KaProw and the Gaeng Daeng. Their mango stick rice was “sold out” earlier in the day when we placed our first order, but when we checked back later it was back in stock and we were able to order it for the same pickup time.
The Pad KaProw consists of spicy minced pork, jasmine rice, cucumber, a fried egg, and fried basil, and it comes with a spicy dipping sauce on the side (nam pla prik). The Gaeng Daeng is a spicy red curry with chicken, eggplant, melon squash, basil, and it comes with a generous side of jasmine rice. My overall thought for both the Pad KaProw and the Gaeng Daeng was: SO SPICY. Too spicy for my taste, and it made the dishes inedible. To be fair, they let you choose your spice level, and we stuck with the “normal” spice level, so this was our mistake. I would highly advise choosing the lowest spice level the first time.
Luckily, the experience was saved by the mango sticky rice. This is a wonderful dessert that consists of a huge, ripe, delicious mango, sitting on a bed of coconut milk sticky rice, with a coconut milk sauce on the side. It saddens me that this dessert is seasonal, because it was perfect. Get it while the mangos are in season!
Parking is tricky. They have a few parking spots in the front, and a small parking lot in the back. It was busy during the week, so I imagine it’s pretty hard to find parking...
