World Market — Local services in Sunset Valley

Every time I visit this location I ask myself why I keep giving them business. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a staff member smile and for the most part the employees seem like they can’t stand being spoken to. They should probably get out of retail…Moving forward I will use different retailers for items I previously purchase from World Market, even if delivery takes longer and costs more.

My most recent unpleasant experience: I placed an order which combined both shipment of items to my home and in store pickup. During the in store pickup I requested the shipping portion be canceled. I was told they had cancelled the order more than once but then still received the order (which cost over $30 in shipping). When I went to return the items I thought had been canceled I was treated with what can only be described as disdain. Gotta say my boyfriend is NOT a shopper and when we went looking for a dinning room set it was an ADVENTURE to say the least great quality at good price less us to this world market and though they didn’t have the entire set in store we needed Candace was a gem helping us get it all settled and we are well on our way to getting what we want. THEN Alyssa was so sweet when we realized we were in the wrong vehicle since we weren’t expecting to drive home with chairs so a few minutes before close she didn’t rush and got us all filled out on a paper to pick up next day. Well 10 minutes before close next day I walk in and Candace greeted me by name and Ayden grabbed the chairs and helped carry them to the car! Great store, I’ve adored World Market for a long time! At this specific location I was shopping with my sister when all of a sudden an employee (Perhaps, a Supervisor?) made it her mission to bypass all of the Caucasian shoppers in the store to come over to me and my sister to make us aware of the discounts and clearances as if we were needing some type of assistance. She only spoke to us and no one else that she happened to walk by. After she made us aware of the obvious signage she got on her walkie talkie and said “Ok, thank you” and turned around and walked back to the front of the store, again not speaking to any of the other customers. People, please stop assuming minorities are up to no good when they frequent your establishment it is degrading and as obvious as the sky when you make yourselves look as silly as she did.
