I had a really negative experience with management stringing me out after overcharging my card.
I'd visited Dish Society a few times prior to my visit in February and introduced a few friends/colleagues to it because of the food & atmosphere. The last time I went to visit, I wanted to use a $10 promo from my dish society app. The cashier applied the promo manually, told me the order total ($17.42), but did not give me a receipt. I trusted that everything was fine as they had not issued receipts on previous visits. I enjoyed my meal but discovered later that the full cost of the meal ($31.42) had been charged to my card.
I called and spoke with a man (Kevin?) who apologized and explained that the charge was probably due to the promotion being applied AFTER the transaction had gone through. He said it was something that had happened a few times before and that they were working to train staff on it. He said he would issue me a refund so I took his word for it.
Two weeks later I checked my bank account and noticed no refund had been issued back to me. I called Dish Society on a Sunday and spoke with Janelle who was very apologetic. She assured me that since the general manager would be in that day, and since the general manager was the only one who could process refunds, she would speak with her and call me back later the same-day with an update on a solution/refund. I never received a call back.
After noticing yet again that nothing had been processed back onto my card after a few weeks, I finally went back last Friday to speak with management in-person. The blonde manager with whom I spoke was incredibly curt, cold, and somewhat rushed/disengaged. She didn't bother to tell me her name. As I explained the problem she interrupted me a few times and seemed like she didn't believe me until I mentioned Janelle's name. Then she said that the refund probably hadn't been processed yet because "it takes a long time" (it was never processed). She finally quickly swiped a (supposedly) $20 gift card and asked me if there was anything else I needed. I answered "no" and left. The whole interaction lasted probably 2-3 minutes.
I was shocked at how dismissive the manager was. It felt like she just gave me the gift card to pacify me & didn't really care about fixing the situation. I would've loved to frequent Dish Society regularly but after how poorly I was treated I no longer wish to return.
Had I not gone back in-person, I expect I never would've seen the issue corrected. I found the overall lack of follow-through from management disappointing. I hope this location takes more care to treat guests with respect in future.
ETA: I will not be reaching out via email for a refund. I already provided detailed information twice via phone and once in-person. To comment your email pretending like you care and ask me to contact you AGAIN when I've already done so thrice...
Read moreMy recent visit left me thoroughly dissatisfied. From start to finish, the experience was marred by subpar service and excessively salty food.
Upon entering the restaurant, the lack of organization was immediately evident. It took an inordinate amount of time to be seated, despite the restaurant appearing to be only partially full. The staff seemed indifferent to our presence, and their demeanor suggested they were doing us a favor by acknowledging our existence.
Once seated, our hopes for a pleasant meal quickly diminished as we perused the menu. While the variety of options seemed promising, the execution fell short. Every dish we ordered was plagued by an overwhelming saltiness that masked any potential flavor. It was as if the chef had mistaken a pinch of salt for a shovel full. Even after politely bringing this issue to the attention of our server, no effort was made to rectify the situation or accommodate our dissatisfaction.
To add insult to injury, the service throughout the meal was abysmal. Our server was inattentive, forgetting to refill drinks and ignoring our attempts to flag them down for assistance. It was as if they were purposefully avoiding our table.
In conclusion, my experience at was one of disappointment and frustration. The combination of poor service and overly salty food made for a dining experience that I would not wish upon anyone. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this...
Read moreI ordered a single pancake with strawberry topping and my husband got a double with chocolate chips. But our actual pancakes looked really different from one another. Not sure if they gave us the wrong order because when the food came out at first my husband only had a single pancake and when they took it back and brought the correct number of pancakes there were no chocolate chips on it. So that was a bit weird but we didn’t want to keep sending the food back or bother them. My pancake had chia seeds or flax seeds not sure? I didn’t ask for them when i ordered, but they were good. I hadn’t ever experienced a pancake like that before. I got their entry level drink and it was good. Couldn’t taste the ginger at all. Less than 8oz for the drink but still very tasty. They gave us 2 8oz glasses and we were able to fill them up with our own choice of beverage at the little counter thing. I did like that. My husband got a coffee and refills are free. There was a lot of people but I didn’t have any trouble hearing my husband, which was very nice. The person that brought out our food was also very nice and patient with us. Its weird that when you order they ask for a tip when we haven’t experienced the place yet but that was really the only weird thing. Keep Austin weird.
Ps. Would not recommend the eggs. Not sure from what local farm they are from but they taste like liquid eggs not fresh. That was very...
