EL POLLO RICO #11 — Restaurant in Austin

Ok, the food is fantastic. This is my favorite “to go” restaurant. Doesn’t taste fast food at all. So why the one star rating? I’m trying to get the upper management’s attention. My one complaint is that on a whole chicken family order the rice and beans are NOT the proper size for a family meal. They only give you a tiny 8 oz portion of rice and an 8 oz portion of beans. For crying out loud, why be so stingy with rice and beans? You’re charging $23+ for a family meal so you can afford to put 16 oz of rice and 16 oz of beans with it. Don’t make me pay $2.19 (times 2) for two more sides of rice and beans. When you do, your family meal starts hitting $30 (with tax) and that’s too much. Do not order online! Ordered online but showed wrong location so called the Slaughter south 1st location to see if they recieved order.(that was location i chose to pick up) First no one understood me because they do not speak english very well. The woman who answered gave the phone to a man who did not understand me. He finally said no they did not get order but he could see it on his computer. Long story short they would not make order. So I asked to cancel order and for a refund. I asked for a confirmation number for cancelation. He said he did not have one. Well it has been almost a week and still no refund. I ventured off the chicken selections to try the enchiladas. When a cafe has chicken in the name one would be wise to stay with the chicken. So you ask, why would I try enchiladas at a chicken cafe? My only answer is clearly I was insane. Having tried the El Pollo Rico enchiladas I would recommend stay with the chicken. These enchiladas were probably the worse enchiladas I've ever had. The enchiladas were a stick of a soft cheese like product wrapped in a cold tortilla with a thin layer of a red liquid on top. The sides of rice and beans were okay just small portions.
