I discovered this newly opened Korean street food place inside H Mart food court a few days ago. It was during their soft opening and the menu looks very tempting so I decided to give it a try - turned out to be a great choice!
Location-wise, it's great. They share the common dining area with other stands in the food court so there's a plenty of seating options, including regular dining tables and high tops. Menu-wise, I was very surprised to find that they have some very local Korean street food options. For instance, the Korean blood sausage and intestines!
It was hard to pick what to ordered bc everything looks so delicious! I ended up trying their kimbap as I've been craving for some really good ones for a while. The staff at the counter was very nice and accommodating. I was hoping to get a bulgogi kimbap (but with cheese) and she helped me customize one - so happy!
Honestly it's the best kimbap I've ever had in Austin and I'll keep coming back for more! I'd also love to try their sausage set option in the future as they look rlly...
Read moreAfter a bit of shopping at H-Mart with friends, i got a bit hungry and wanted to try out their food mart. This is how i chanced upon Jopok Topokki. The atmosphere felt like asian street food market and the displayed kimbap looked good! But thays where it ended. [Kimbap is like a sushi roll but with veges instead of raw meat.]
I ordered the Mixed set, which consists of Ramen and vegetable kimbap along with Spam kimbap just for flavour variation. Grand tottal 25$
What i got was Top shelf Ramen. Like the kind you get in the package for 75cents at your local supermarket. Kimbap was bland even the one with the spam. Honestly couldnt tell the difference from the two. Overall... one could make better ramen at home... or order spring rills from any fast food Chinese restaurant.
I wont go into how rude "idgaf" attitude of cashier. In any case, over priced subpar food. I would recomend...
Read moreI get my grocery at this HMart, so I walk through here on a weekly basis. A few weeks ago, I saw signs for this South Korean street food style restaurant opening, and I was pretty excited. This week is their soft opening, so I had to try them out. So I ordered the Bulgogi Kimbap and a Cheese Topokki. The Bulgogi Kimbap is good and the rice cake in the Cheese Topokki has very good texture. It is chewy in a good way and not doughy and does not stick to the teeth. The sauce is sweet and packing heat at the same time, not too overpowering. I would guess the rice cake they use is not the frozen and comes in a big commercial size bag kind. Overall, the quality of food is good, but the price point might need some adjusting as portion/ingredient to price ratio is out of kilter. Considering you can purchase pretty much the same exact items at a lesser price and/or bigger portion under...
