Bakery is good. Boba milk tea is good. Service is normally ok. Atmosphere is ok. Eating area is usually needs to be cleaned. I would vote 4 stars but after this evening, I was disappointed. My daughter’s birthday is this weekend and she wanted to purchase a cake from your franchise. This store makes her favorite cakes. This is the closest one from our house 1 hour away. With the busy schedule today, we finally drove and hour to this location 1 minute past 8:00 which is when the store is closed. So it was 8:01 but there were still customers being served inside so we tried to hurry so we can purchase an already made cake. We didn’t want to have anything made to order as we didn’t want to make more work for the workers. I work in customer service so I understand the inconvenience. We just wanted to quickly buy a pre-made cake and leave. The worker told us the store was closed. We expressed we understood but if they could make an exception since we were late only 1 minute and it was our daughter’s birthday. We just wanted to grant our daughter’s birthday wish. We were even willing to hand them cash and just leave with the cake and no receipt, but the worker refused and said they were closed. They had customers still being checked out and still didn’t want to serve? No exceptions. It was really sad, because it felt like these people have lost the heart and passion for the customers. This would have never happened in Taiwan where we first encountered the bakery. I work in customer service and I always take care of my customers, even at closing, not like how we were encountered this evening. If we give the customers our care and concern they will always come back. If don’t have customers, we don’t have a business. My assumption is the workers may respond to my complaint by saying we “should have came sooner” or we “should go somewhere else”. Just so you know, we will go to Tous Les Jours bakery instead to buy her...
Read moreThey have good coffee and bubble tea drinks. They also have a large selection of baked goods but the flavors are not particularly strong other than the coffee flavored ones. Their chocolate and taro breads are the color they should be but not very much the flavor. For example if you get the taro pastry or taro swirled breads they will vaguely have the scent of taro in their filling. And when you look and taste closely you will see that the taro fillings are actually made of sweetened white bean that is colored to look like taro. The same goes for their mocha breads etc. The colors are there but the flavors are not so much. The 85 Degrees bakeries don't usually have many flaws but the ones located in Austin seem to be having a bit of trouble getting their stuff together. This specific location still has a bit of trouble getting their drink orders out in a timely manner. They also do not have a barista station window where you would normally walk over to pick up your drinks. Instead you either have to wait by the cashier station (awkward) or wait for them to call your number - which in many times is not loud enough due to the amount of noise inside. I have also been there several times to find they ran out of the bread I stopped by for or stopped making them early. They also open late and close early compared to other locations I have been to all over the US. I hope they change some of these shortcomings. I know they don't have much competition but we should still be able to pick up a coffee before 10am, no? By the way if you're a mom with kids who wear diapers don't expect to change them here! They actually DON'T have a changing table in their restrooms! Parking is not a problem since they are in a plaza that is...
Read moreI wanted to like this place. It seemed amazing. But it was a total waste of time and money. I saw mango creme brulee cake advertised and I was on my way in a heartbeat. I love mango everything. The atmosphere/service was nice, and it was impressive to walk in to. But that's honestly the only good thing about it.
We ordered 4 items for 3 people and we all tried everything. ~Mango creme brulee cake - Awful. I mostly finished it solely so it wouldnt be trashed, but it was not worth anything. No flavor. Tasted like plastic and regret. ~Mango delight - Beyond awful. This went to the trash. Even my kids wouldn't eat more than one bite. I tried 2 bites because I thought there was no way it was really THAT bad, but it was. ~Deluxe strawberry cream cake - Barely mediocre. Tasted like plastic too, but a tad better than the mango. Icing has no flavor at all. It's completely pointless. ~Chocolate mousse - This was the only item that hit "okay" level. But there was also nothing special about it. It was the worst of all chocolate mousses I've ever had, but it was not BAD necessarily. Just pointless, again. Chocolate mousse from anywhere else would be preferable, or make your own. It's ridiculously easy, and I can 99.9% guarantee it'll turn out better than this.
