Hi, I’m so sorry but this was not the right experience for the name of the cafe — I went on a Sunday afternoon. French attention to pastries and coffee is intense and precise, this was an extremely cute shop, even with the beautiful woven chairs that seem to be emblematic of Paris cafes — but the essentials, the basics were not done well. I got a chocolate croissant for my partner, which was a bit dry and dense and not too chocolatey. He took a bite and put it down. I got the Butter croissant for myself, but it was bland, like it was missing salt but had sugar instead? Sugar is really not the point of a croissant, it is only there to balance the salt and is not meant to dominate. I think the butter is supposed to be what makes a croissant light and airy, was that what was missing? Was it kneaded too heavily? Was the sugar a kind of innovation that needs further development? I don’t know. If the shop wants to continue as a French bakery rather than, say, a cake shop or something else, in my opinion the croissants have to be examined and reworked. There is no point in eating all that butter if it is not transcendent. The other essential for a café — coffee. The Drip Coffee was watery and bland 😢— i think change has to start with a more rich, reputable brand of coffee, there are so many excellent local brands — and then made with a thickness and flavor so you can tell the person who made it loves coffee. Go to Buzzmill or Thunderbird or Epoch and taste their coffee, a simple cup is rich, complex, thick, delicious and has a million flavors. I have no idea how they do it large-scale, I make a robust cup of coffee at my house with a French press. There is a kind of mean Tx phrase I don’t want to use in a mean way, everybody starts somewhere — “all hat and no cattle.” The look is not essential, but the tastes are everything 💛 To be rather than to seem. I am sure the shop will continue to progress and I look forward to future iterations. The person behind the counter was friendly and I...
Read moreDelicious! SO tasty and yummy. I ordered the éclair, crobrois, millefeville, lemon poppy seed muffin, and blueberry muffin. All were masterfully baked. The Millefeville was my favorite. A masterclass in fine pastries. The dough was cloud light and flaky but kept together masterfully with its crème binder between sheets. The best part was the top icing which was done with beautiful quality. It was luxuriously sweet instead of a cheap sweetness of a store bought pastry. The icing was bit into and would break off in hard thick chunks which made it manageable and decedent to eat. The muffins were delicious with the same icing qualities as the millefeviille. The éclair was light with the dough having a French elegance to it. The filling was not overpowering like a typical éclair but instead was a slim marker size amount of decadent crème to balance with the light airiness of the éclair dough. Delicious. Last but certainly not least was the chocolate glazed crobrois which was my favorite chocolate donut like baked good I have had. The crème puff hidden pockets were a playful surprise when you would take a bite and find one combining with the chocolate and the home run dough of the crobrois. I loved it and I think you will too. I would recommend a big order of multiple items. Treat yourself, you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to be back to try the scones which I have heard would make even Larry David give it 5/5 stars. I am excited to be a frequent customer to this...
Read moreI went for the first time today because my daughter and me had time between appointments and we we're so disappointed. Originally we wanted to go to Taco Deli but there was a line outside the door. I asked for a lunch item they had on their menu board and he just said "we don't have that". So I said, " You guys should cross it out from your menu" while he just walked to the back ignoring me completely. The girl there was a bit nicer but it looked like she didn't understand me at times. My daughter asked for another lunch item and the girl said "we don't have any lunch items" I shook my head and ask my daughter if she wanted anything else but she said no. I ended up getting an eclair and wanted a lemonade with it but she said "we haven't made any" she walked over to the guy and he just let out a heavy sigh and started to get some containers from the back. At this point, I was visibly upset and just said, " what's his problem?" the girl smiled back and said they had sparkling water. She suggested putting flavoring. I wanted raspberry but she suggested lavender. It's very popular! She said. I was like, "do you have raspberry?" She said no but we do have lavender. By the way, tasted the lavender, it was horrible in sparkling water. Almost spit it out. She luckily forgot to charge me or just gave it to me for free? I have no idea. It was a very unpleasant and confusing visit to say the least for both of us. Will likely not be visiting...
