I'll try not to make this long. I LOVED it here. From the moment i was greeted at the host stand to the moment i walked out: the hostesses were super sweet and friendly, our server Nate was very quick and helpful. I'm asking for him next time. We had the trio appetizer with queso, bean dip and guac, my favorite was the queso. You can tell they put some work into it. The chips and salsa were fresh and spicy, which is very important to me.
I got the poblando enchiladas; they were okay, but i enjoyed it! The sauce was not my favorite but the chicken was so flavorful and not dry! Omg the rice and beans were GOOD! FINALLY, some good rice in a tex mex restaurant!!
My boyfriend got the tamales with queso and carne on top... O.M.G. DELICIOUS. So fresh and amazing. I also got a fresh lemonade: DELICIOUS as well. I kept watering it down with water so i just had lemonade all night!
I wish i couldve tried dessert but I couldn't even finish my plate. Almost everything tasted like it was fresh and made with love. Also the environment was fantastic because the workers actually looked happy to work together, help eachother and interact! The manager was very hands on on the expo line (where the plates come out), which is very nice to see; i love to see team work in a restaurant, AS EVERY RESTAURANT SHOULD. Finally, a good tex mex restaurant in Austin. (Im from Houston) Definitely coming back 🩷

Read moreI'm from out of town and I love to experience different restaurants and flavors. Random pick of today was this restaurant. This place has an option for outdoor and indoor settings.
Unique decoration on the walls. Music is unexpectedly catering the culture of the customers rather than what the restaurant advertises for which is Tex-Mex. Atmosphere is wonderful either way.
Server was wonderful and very nice!
Food wise, chips and salsa served at start. Salsa had the right amount of kick to it. Although it could use a bit more flavor (coming from someone that has perfected making salsa). You can tell how good a restaurant is by their beans and cheese tacos. So I had to order them to see if its worth coming back. Unfortunately the portion of beans was not filling. Just a quick smear like I'm dipping tortilla in beans for flavor. Cheese has great taste. Tortillas are store bought plane. Was it worth the $3 per taco? Not in my opinion. $1.25 maybe, but not 3. Cooks didn't have a well meal presentation. Meaning half my beans were on the plate that I had to scoop back into it. I wouldn't mind trying other things to see what else they offer. But not my choice of urgency to continue to explore.
Restaurant has great potential! I still recommend giving a try as people have different taste for food, as I look for flavor and quality for myself. Enjoy...
Read moreWish I could give them a better review - or that I didn't have to post this public review. But this is the review they've earned over multiple failures in their take away order service.
The food is pretty good for what it is. It's not fancy, just basic tex mex.
However, when you order online and come to get it - you might want to check Every. Single. Thing. in your order to confirm it is correct. Because we had 4 orders in a row with take away failures - missing items, wrong items. wrong ingredients.
It's amazing how poorly their take away operation works. Even when these issues are brought to their attention, there is no response and no change for improvement. Shame on you Maudie's. Your poor service means many others will seek different options and at some point your bad service will come back to get you. There are a lot of great alternatives with as good or better food, but more importantly, service without failures.
A final comment: I didn't want to post a public review like this. I originally sent a private email to their customer line. It's been weeks without a reply, so as I started this review - I wish I didn't have to post it. Therefore when Maudie's replies publicly with a "contact us privately to address the issue", know that I /did/ do that first and there was...
