The Rock at Town Lake — Attraction in Austin

In the '70's the name of the place was "Rock Island".It was host to many free concerts by local bands who needed no permit to set up and play. You could take a picnic basket and your family... with your choice of adult beverages in glassbottles and let the doggy run free to play Frisbee with the young hippies, while you dosed in the sweet sweet summer sun! All of the above is now illegal according to recent changes by tight butted young Republicans and Californians with a taste for ruining Austin ,just like they did to places from wence they spewed. But, I also blame the Austin elite getting rich off of kickbacks and from other darkened room deals...yes I'm talking to YOU! Friggin paresite POLITICIANS...

Running on the trail downtown is one of my favorite things to do. Plus, the services (bathrooms, water fountains, etc) are fantastic. It's a really pretty place to run, walk, or bike. Would highly recommend to locals...
