Give this business back to the original owners, or give it to someone who will honor the past and give the great product they built for decades. My whole life Ive come here, now I live out of town and literally for years I've traveled from San Antonio to Austin just get good old fashioned Ms Johhnson HOT FRESH glazed donuts and you could see the guy making them too. Idk what happened to previous couple of owners but somebody had the great idea of buying this place and using the same great name yet ruining the brand and product. Now it's just a bunch of hipsters running the show. I felt like I walked into a 90s movie. Horrible customer service, RUDE people all on their phone devices. Donuts not warm or hot. Dude lied that the glaze donuts just came out 15 mins ago but he didn't know we had been sitting outside for half an hour and those donuts were not new or fresh. They had been sitting there. They kept the name to make money on other people's decades of hard work yet have zero idea of how it was run all those great years of service. . MRS Johnsons not hot n fresh??? What? And response was They can put them in the microwave???? Omg. And it was said in a rude way too as the guy at the window kept sucking on his teeth like he'd been eating. So I was very disappointed and still bought 2 dozen glazed bc I assured my family in San Antonio I'd take them some, and they assured me it's the same old Johnson recipe. Well the donut itself is definitely different so they lied. The glaze seems like it might be similar, but the problem is they cheat you on the glaze. Tell me when that was ever a problem at Ms Johnsons. Ha. The glazed donuts have like half what they used to of not worse. So now you're paying more. For less product and bad customer service from youngsters who have no clue. A nostslgic legendary establishment, ruined. Completely ruined. But at least the employees are so trendy. Smh....
Read moreWhere to start, the drive through is only the only thing amazing. I pulled up to the window to order before doing so said hello, and the woman said hold on and went and grabbed someone else to take my order. Mind you she also helped the people in front of me in there car so it was a little strange. Then two men walked inside and she took their order. When the guy came to the window I was trying to ask him questions because I didn’t know what they had being that it was latter in the evening. He just started making up an order, by the time I finished I had been sitting in the drive through of a donut place for 30 minutes. To say the least the donuts themselves are very doughy. I love filled ones so yes I indulged, I bout half a dozen to try all the different flavors. Sad part the jelly filled (lemon, strawberry, raspberry, Bavaria) it was like u put the bag in barely squished any filling and handed a majority empty donut. I also had a sprinkle, powder, and original chocolate. I’m even more saddest to say that the icing felt gritty as though the sugar was not melted all the way. And it left a coating on my tongue that made a weird after taste. I also got my Borden’s chocolate milk, of course that was amazing! I will say that if they were to work on their customer service as well as their donut skills this place could get a better rating. As it stands customer seems is a huge factor in this review you cannot treat people with disabilities different it’s not only unethical it’s morally wrong. I hope that if you want to be treated with respect as well as have a better tasting donut try...
Read moreLast night, I was so excited to purchase donuts from the newly remodeled Mrs. Johnson’s Donut shop. The staff is friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that they kept the trademark drive thru. Therefore, I gave them 2 stars. But, this is the first time I have been served refrigerator cold donuts in 55 years. Mrs. Johnson’s recipe has always been served warm, with a light silky glaze that sunk slightly into the super fresh donut. This glaze is cold, thick, heavy, and crumbles. Breaks my heart to say this, but you might as well go to your local grocer and pick up donuts, or make a trip to Krispy Kreme until the new owners get it right, and live up to the legacy of their sign, and the communities love for the original donut taste. My brother and I walked to school passing Mrs Johnson’s donuts, and every morning Mr. Johnson handed us a fresh warm, glazed donut. We loved the Johnson’s, as much as we did their donuts! I have high hopes that the new owners take these reviews seriously and improve. The family that purchased the place after the Johnson’s passed were following the recipe and still utilizing all the original equipment. I know you...
