This eatery is the quintessential Austin breakfast place. The classic menu is easy - breakfast and not breakfast. Options for vegetarians and gluten-free folks. All the wants for a meal to get your day going, or refuel for more Austin adventures. Either seat-yourself when not busy, or signup on a piece of paper. Once you’re seated, a friendly server will come get you drinks and give you time to acquaint yourself with the menu. After you’ve gotten your drinks and discovered your flavor of the day, you’re told the food will be out soon. In less than 15 minutes, you go from walking in to having hot food. After having every single thing on the menu - breakfast and not - there is nothing bad or middle-of-the-road. Pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, nachos, soups, and of course omelettes - every single one is perfection in food form. Coupling your meal with strong coffee, delicious orange juice, and crisp Austin water, you will be full and happy when your plate is clean. Simple payment with cash or card, and bagged coffee next to the register, and you’re off on your day. The tables are covered with colorful and sturdy wrapping, there is space for more or less chairs, wheelchair-accessible in the entire place, and they have multiple kinds of high-chairs for kids. Make a stop here and relish in what Austin really is - a weird and welcoming place for all.

***update 5 year old review*** This diner is as good as the great LA diners. It is a true, American diner, replete with rotating stools at the counter, and a simple, strong, straight-forward menu. The rest of the clean interior is wooden panels and seating in front of plate glass with a street view. Service is excellent and attentive, and answers questions promptly and professionally. Now to the food: if one's favorite cuisine is breakfast - then a definite contender for a last meal. I ordered a spinach omelette, which was expertly cooked in a manner where the spinach was not overheated and soggy, OR to avoid this, shoved in at the last second so they are completely uncooked. The cheese was bountiful and tasty. However, as much as I love the namesake meal, I believe their gingerbread pancakes surpass it. Fluffy, yet substantial, perfectly cooked with a wonderful, fragrant ginger throughout. The pancakes are so good, they can be enjoyed plain, although I enjoy them with some lovely fresh fruit. Speaking of, the orange juice is truly fresh-squeezed. This immaculate meal, the likes of which I live and work to enjoy, was very affordable - particularly considering the ENORMOUS portions. I would esteem this diner as the best in Austin, and therefore one of the best in the world.

The Omelettry in Austin is a charming breakfast and brunch spot with eclectic decor and a surprisingly short wait, even on busy weekends. I recently visited with my husband while we were visiting from Dallas and we were both impressed with the food and service. Once we placed our order, we only waited about 15 minutes before our food was brought out. I started with a full stack of gluten-free blueberry pancakes and sausage. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and the blueberries were fresh and tart. The sausage was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I loved that I could enjoy a hearty breakfast without having to worry about gluten. My husband ordered one of the cheese omelets that came with a short stack of pancakes and bacon. He said that the omelet was good, but he wished he had added some meat. He also commented that the portion size was a bit small and the cheese tasted like melted processed cheese. Overall, we had a positive experience at The Omelettry. The food was good, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was eclectic and fun. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable breakfast or brunch. Would I return? Absolutely! Hopefully we will be back in town soon!

Well understanding it's Father's Day I'll weigh my answer accordingly. We were told at around 11 it'd be a 3 min wait for a party of 4. When we pulled up ten minutes later that number ballooned to 30, which given our previous options would've been a Godsend. But now my family is rushing to get to service in Taylor and the morning bled well into the afternoon. After watching party after party that arrived substantially after we did get seated we went and waited right next to the waiting list upon which I signed up when we first arrived. Once we'd AGAIN watched a customer seated ahead of us after they just got there, both our parties of equal size, my wife made a less than subtle observation which magically propelled us into a booth. But not just any booth. We got the one furthest away from the entrance. Nah, no one could happen to notice a limping elderly man and two handicapped adults, all 3 walking as if we'd rather crawl home. Anywho, once we were seated things slowly got back on track. The service from that point up until the end, drastically improved, and the coffee, I got the cold brew, was worth the price of admission. My only gripe about the food was my father's unfulfilled desire of Eggs Benedict. If yall can make the concoction called if I'm not mistaken the Burnet road Benedict, why couldn't yall do a Eggs Benedict the old fashioned way for a dad who without question earned the right to eat what he wants on fathers day. But everyone except my daughter had clean plate disease. A little rushed once my wife asked for boxes. My dad didn't finish his food. And whatever I missed by the front door when we were leaving, just know I know my wife doesn't make faces like that too often. So someone or something made her have some respect. Will I go back, probably, but only cuz I know it couldn't be that bad with a crowd such as they served today. I'll tweak my rating...

Let's get to it - My son and I wanted to find a nice diner near us and I wanted to take him out to brunch on 8/24/24 - I've been in and out of Austin my whole life and loved the idea of supporting local. Boy was this place regrettable.

The staff was super friendly, a real Austin vibe that I loved. The menu seemed simple enough, I feel like getting an Omelette might be the move. Spanish Omelette, I ain't ever been to Spain, but I'm not so picky, promised a salsa with a bunch of stuff.

I get a plate with tons of food on it - the salsa is canned tomato and canned jalapeno, with a copious helping of the liquid from the cans - no onion (on the menu for it), no bell pepper (on the menu for it). I'm not one to complain much, and it looked fine until I realized with enough liquid at the bottom from the canned tomatoes and jalapeno's to fill a pint glass. My potatoes are soggy and soaked, the egg of my omelette is a questionable film of 'perfectly cooked' egg that seems to be folded over some kraft cheese. Like it was microwaved. I imagine it was probably inedible without being soggy, but it sure was soggy. Had I known what awaited I would have just gotten eggs n fried them on the hood of my car with some butter. It would have been much better.

If you know how caustic canned tomatoes are, you could argue this place might be giving people cancer.

The only thing I wouldn't have changed about this place is the front of house staff and giving them an above average tip (lifelong service industry here), but calling this place the Omelettry? My friend in Christ, that's...

Food is good, the service however was disappointing. It had been a while since my family had visited and I thought it would be nice to take them here. We were first seated at this little booth at the furthest corner of the restaurant behind the stacks of baby seats and literally in the corner, it feels neglected and unconnected from the restaurant. They served our drinks, that’s it. No one came to ask for our order or anything. It had been around 10 minutes and nothing. They should remove that seating.

Anyways, we then asked to be seated elsewhere in order to watch over our belongings on our truck bed. They moved us closer to the windows. We then noticed that 6 people who came in after us were seated AND served food before we even got a new table. It then took forever for someone to get our order. My dad greeted the server with “good morning! How’s it going?”, the server said nothing and ignored him. Very rude from the start. While ordering, I was under the impression the soup was called homemade soup, I asked for it and the waiter laughed and said “all soups are homemade”. I replied with “oh” I was very embarrassed. He then took a second to tell me the options I had. My father asked for another cup of coffee and the man responded very informally They then brought us the wrong food orders and forgot to bring some side dishes. Nobody apologized or said anything about the mistakes. The man who first served us never even came back after that. We had like 4 different servers. Very unorganized and did not feel welcomed at all. Will not be...
