My wife and I live at Windsor on the Lake just a half a block south of Salvation Pizza and love having it nearby. For Rainey street party goers, it is the hidden gem of affordable, late night grub grabbing. The street dining during the day is a well shaded spot with a nice clean urban feel. The food is prepared predominantly from scratch with fresh ingredients and in the Italian tradition that "simple ingredient combinations result in the best culinary outcomes." I could not agree more... Fresh and simple ingredients yield awesome results. Unless it has been a five star establishment, we have never been served fresh made Ranch Dressing... but Salvation has it, and it is incredible... on salads for sure, but insanely good on their sweet Thai chili chicken wings. Full bar, really solid draft beer selection, skilled cooks, a menu designed with focus and balance, and a really nice vibe. It is typically not too crowded (a double edge sword for the owner), but we hope that changes soon. If you have an experience that falls short of expectations, please communicate it with the owner or staff so that they can take corrective action. If you think parking sucks... well then, my friend, you have never lived or worked in a downtown cosmopolitan area. If you can make it to Rainey street, then you can make it to Salvation Pizza.

Edit: the owner must not manage this place anymore. This restaurant went downhill. My favorite items are off the menu which is understandable. They were out of so much stuff. I ordered the meatballs for my child. After they served it they didn’t say anything until I asked why it wasn’t served with the garlic knots it comes with they. They said because they don’t have either and I still had to pay for it. My favorite pizza was burnt and inedible & they were short staffed as usual. Took over 45 minutes to get served. I just moved in next door and this was the closest restaurant to me. I wasn’t really craving pizza but man did this place exceed my expectations! The servers were super friendly and hardworking even though they were busy. I wish I would have remembered their names. I got the 14” and added red onion, shrimp and artichokes. This is my go to now!! I already know this place is going to take all of my money.

Salvation Pizza BLUF: Huge assortment of pizza toppings. Awesome house combinations. Full bar. Tap selection is limited. I came here specifically for the calzone and I wasn’t disappointed. It comes standard as cheese the size of a football. But you can add up to three “toppings” to it. I chose Italian sausage, meatball, and spinach. For a base price of $13 it’s a pretty good deal. The atmosphere is that of a typical sports bar and grill. The square footage is a little small overall. Plenty of screens, almost 1 per table if my count is right. There is a pool table, although one side is a little close to the street-facing windows. Bartender is super friendly and the food came out fast and perfect.

Worst pizza dine-in experience, ever!! Where do I even begin?

First, they took our order completely wrong. We ordered wings and specifically mentioned that we'd like to have sauce on the side, and the wings came out covered in sauces. We order a Margherita pizza and a Pepperoni pizza. It took the kitchen 45min to finally serve the Margherita pizza, but it had no tomato or basil leaf on it so it was basically just an over-priced cheese pizza. The waitress tried to explain that their kitchen ran out of ingredients, so this is the best Margherita pizza they can serve, and asked me whether we still wanted it. I was speechless. Why couldn't anyone ask us sooner instead of having us wait for 45min before serving a defective pizza?? By this time we were already starving so I told the waitress that we were going to take it. To no one's surprise, this so-called "Margherita pizza" is very plain and mediocre, and tastes nothing like the slice of pizza we had in the airport. But this wasn't even the worst part.

We waited for another 20min for the second pizza to come out. It didn't. So I stopped one of the waiter to ask whether he knows when the other pizza will come out. The waiter was extremely rude and responded "yes, I know. Soon." and just left. He didn't even bother to check our order. We had to find the waitress who took our order and ask again. This time we got the answer that the kitchen somehow messed up our order and didn't even make the second pizza.

At this point we were extremely disgusted by this place. The food, the service, the environment. Literally everything was the worst of the worst in any dine-in restaurant I've been to. I couldn't believe how this restaurant survived in downtown Austin. At our demand, the manager took both Pizza off our bill, but we left feeling hungry after sitting there for an hour and half. What a complete waste of time. I would never go back to...

Honestly super sad writing this because this used to be my favorite pizza place to go to. If you are thinking of going here think AGAIN. Based on the reviews this seems to be an on going issue. But the lady named Candice up front we walk in sit down and order drinks my partner asks is there a chance we can change the channel on the tvs? Her remark was "is there a chance you can wait a min" very passive aggressive didn't sit right with us so when she asked if I wanted cinnamon on my drink I informed no we are going to pass on the drinks she said okay. Mind you we never saw her pour drinks or hand us our drinks we are sitting right at the bar. so I asked about my card on file she confirmed she was going to cancel it out I said cool thanks we leave. I later checked my card and she charged me for a drink she claimed she poured and charged the other person we were with as well. We come back to talk about the charges she sees us already is aggressive right off the bat and we were asking about the charges she said yeah you guys walked out so you were charged I took one drink off since it wasn't poured. She then prints out receipts one shows zero the other shows 10 bucks. Our banks show differently which we explained Okay cool well since you charged our cards can we get the drink we paid for she said no you can pay for another. Of course at this point we are beginning to get frustrated as she STILL has so much attitude and then she walks away telling other customers we are mad because they got charged for walking out. Honestly so crazy she basically just stole money. She was very immature and shocking that an establishment has this person working for them. I will be disputing this transaction. Rude staff definitely pushes customers away. Save yourself from poor service. The owner seems to not care since this has been happening for months just look at...

I have never bothered to review anywhere before but this place has managed to earn this review! I wish I could say that this was just a service issue and that their pizza is delicious or some such but I haven't tried their pizza.

Screw their online order system and the fact that I waited for over an hour and a half for a pizza that wasn't coming..... until the next morning! Anything ordered after 10:30pm (in my case exactly at 10:30pm) won't be delivered until the next day!!!! It will tell you to expect a pizza at 11:40 it will fail to make clear they 13 hours and 10 minutes after you order.

I get you have to close your kitchen sometime but if I'm not going to get my f*%king pizza tonight, DON'T LET ME ORDER IT!!!! So I can make other plans, you know, for food because I'm hungry!

Lastly when I call asking about my delivery that I thought might just be 20+ minutes late, for all that is holy, don't be condescending and "explain" that your kitchen closes at 10:30pm in a manner that all but blames me for not knowing. However this is clearly a known issue because he sounded bored at the same time. He did however cancel my order, for let me remind you, THE NEXT DAY!!!!

Hopefully I'll calm down after a midnight snack and see a refund in the morning. Moreover, I hope they fix this problem so no one else has to be this frustrated over "the pizza that didn't knock...
