Read moreI arrived at the ACC because of the SXSW Convention in March. It was my first time here and in the city of Austin as well. I can say firstly that Austin was a fantastic city. I am from upstate NY and have been to both NYC and Boston.. gotta say I enjoyed Austin the best hands down.
As for the Austin Convention Center. I enjoyed it very much - it was packed up and busy for the SXSW event going on but I still managed to take in what the convention center had to offer. I thought it flowed very well and was easy enough to navigate. The people were super friendly and the days spent there were unforgettable.
My only gripe would be that the convention center couldn't hold everything that they had to offer at SXSW and often I had to go to adjacent hotels which were hosting more events. I mean... it wasn't a big deal because the places were so close to one another (and I guess them having so much material for the event makes sense that they can't contain it in one location).
All in all, great building, great event (SXSW) and definitely recommend visiting this city and convention center...
Read moreSignage is absolutely terrible. I have a foot injury and did so much unnecessary walking I made the injury worse. Open additional exit and entrance doors to the main exhibit hall (any rooms, really) to accommodate those with mobility issues; two ingress/egress points for thousands of square feet is far too few. Post inside the exhibit hall where escalators are. Everything is spread so far apart that it was exceedingly difficult for me to move between sessions or even get food. "Recycle" bins were clearly just going to landfill. Wi-Fi was so spotty I turned it off. The art is superb, but had I not gone the wrong way, I never would have noticed much of it. Had to hold up a broken toilet paper dispenser to use the toilet. Too wasteful with automatic flush settings (average of four flushes per visit for me). How is this LEEDS compliant? Finally, the food was pretty awful (stale, cold, and tough garlic bread, for example) and I couldn't get a soda anywhere inside during my three-day convention.
Your public transport system under construction is going to be much too close to...
